History of King Bhumibol Adulyadej

King Bhumibol known as Rama IX ruled Thailand from 9th June 1946 until his death on 13 October 2016. He was the longest reigning monarch in the history of Thailand. Belief Behind the Brahma Temple in Pushkar

According to this legend, Brahma requested his wife Savitri’s company when he planned a yajna in Pushkar after killing a demon named Vajranabha. But, Savitri wasn’t available on the right momenfor the ritual. So, he married Gayatri, a stunning young local girl, for the puja. When Savitri heard about it, she hurried to the location and cursed her husband Brahma by declaring that Pushkar would be the location of the sole temple built in his honour.

The temple is close to the revered Pushkar Lake, is a very popular tourist destination. Many people go there, particularly on the auspicious day of Kartik Poornima.

A Perfect Example of Magnificent Architecture

The well-known Brahma temple in Pushkar is a completely marble building with temple architecture influenced by the South. It was built in the beginning of fourteenth century. Indian Mythology, however, holds that this temple’s beginnings were 2000 years ago.

The temple’s entrance, which is adorned with pillared canopies and is built on an elevated platform, is accessible through marble stairs.

After entering, you will arrive at the Mandapa, a pillared outdoor hall. The Mandapa is further away from the sanctum sanctorum (Garbhagriha). The figure of Lord Brahma sitting cross-legged is located in the centre of the Garbhagriha. Additionally, there are images of the Lord of Preservation (Vishnu), gliding Garuda (the eagle man), and Dvarapalas inside the Pushkar Brahma temple (gate-keepers)

On the mount of the temple, the building displays a red spire (shikara) from the outside. To further enhance the beauty of its exteriors, a Hamsa (goose or swan) sign is included alongside this.

Provincial governor Wichawut Jinto, Samui district chief Chayapol Intarasapa, and Marine Department officials were at Lom Phraya boat pier at Wat Na Phralan on Koh Samui on Tuesday to watch the departure of tourist laden speedboats to Koh Phangan.

Mr. Wichawut said the Full Moon Party on Koh Phangan on Tuesday night attracted about 20,000 people, much more than last month, signaling the improving tourism situation.

About 15,000 departed from Koh Samui and the others from the mainland on ferry services.

About 50 million baht was expected to be injected into Koh Phangan on Tuesday night alone, he said.

Officials were instructed to strictly enforce health safety measures issued by the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration. Boat operators were told to ensure all passengers were wearing life jackets prior to departure.

Tawich Somwang, chairman of a business group at Hat Rin beach on Koh Phangan, said there were five checkpoints screening all arrivals for weapons and drugs before they entered the beach area.

There were also checkpoints manned by police and soldiers along the road from the boat pier to Hat Rin beach, to ensure tourists’ safety, he said.

The number of Thai outbound tourists is expected to remain at 1 million this year, with more trips anticipated during the final quarter.

The wholesale operators that allocate packages to small tour companies still have a lot of remaining credits with airlines and can offer services by using a pricing strategy, said Chotechuang Soorangura, vice-president of TTAA.

There are 45-46 wholesalers in the market, he said.

Mr Chotechuang said most outbound retail operators are offering wholesale packages as they have not fully recovered from the financial impact of the pandemic and still don’t have enough manpower to run the services by themselves.

Current tourism demand might be insufficient as tour operators have to launch many destinations to cover costs, he said.

As Japan plans to resume inbound tourism on June 10, a number of local operators have started publicising their packages online, which are mostly similar trips ranging in cost from 25,888 baht to 60,000 baht, excluding RT-PCR tests and visa fees.

Mr Chotechuang, also a managing director of NS Travel and Tours, said operational costs for Japan packages had soared 30-35% from 2019, with additional expenses including tourist visas, RT-PCR tests, higher costs of accommodation, tour buses, fuel and food.

“Outbound tour operators may continue to struggle for a year despite more border reopenings, as the third quarter is not tourism season,” he said.

If Japan eases rules for independent tourists by September-October and daily arrivals increase to 50,000 tourists, up from 20,000, then 50% of the anticipated 1-million Thai outbound market is expected to flock to Japan, particularly to Tokyo and Osaka, said Mr Chotechuang.

He said other favoured destinations among Thais, including South Korea, might lift restrictions for individual tourists, but the demand is not as strong.

Apart from Japan and South Korea, other popular short-haul destinations include Singapore and Vietnam, while preferred long-haul destinations include the Netherlands, Switzerland, the UK, Germany and France.

Mr Chotechuang said trips to Europe, where prices have also increased by 30%, are dealing with a delayed visa process. Tourists have to prepare 2-3 months in advance, while some groups have had to cancel trips.

Tour operators also hope to have bookings from corporate clients next year, as they tend to avoid high prices during the peak season, he said.

Manish Kumar of the Department of Earth Sciences of the Indian Institute of Technology in the capital Gandhinagar has informed that till now only the survival of the corona was confirmed in the sewage line, but now the virus has also been detected in the river.

Manish Kumar has told that 694 samples were taken from Sabarmati river, 549 from Kankaria pond and 402 from Chandola pond. After getting the virus, researchers believe that all the natural water sources of the country should be investigated, because many serious mutations of the virus have been seen in the second wave.
