Watching this movie has been such a pandemonium of different emotions that it’s difficult to pinpoint the exact feelings this movie brings out.

More than anything else, this movie is strongly reminiscent of the original Marvel Cinematic Universe (MCU) pre-Avengers: Endgame era. When Tony Stark was still getting the most applause inside one of his Iron Man suits, the SHIELD helicarrier was the base of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and abominations like She-Hulk and Ms Marvel didn’t exist?

James Gunn now helms the DC Extended Universe (DCEU) reign. Long before that, the first Guardians of the Galaxy (GotG) movie was his and Marvel Studios’ lovechild, and he poured all his love into that movie. Since then, a significant extent of chaos has characterised a series of events. One of them included Gunn being fired by Disney ‘after a batch of old social media dispatches were unearthed’ as reported by Deadline.
This bizarre event occurred after Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2.

The past is past. Gunn made a comeback, and how!

FYI, we won’t discuss his draconian decision to fire Henry Cavill and scrape most of the current DCEU projects. We all hate him for that. I know.

This review will analyse the pros and cons of his latest venture and the newest instalment in the Guardians of the Galaxy series – Vol. 3. Let’s get started!

Right from the moment you enter the theatre and watch the iconic Marvel Studios logo roll on the screen till the last end credit scene (of course, it has an end credit scene. It’s a Marvel movie, what you’d expect!), the film just won’t let you leave your seat for popcorn or any snacks. Honestly, it is so good that you will compromise your urge to use the washroom till the last credits vanish from the screen.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 Delivers on Point

I am not going to dive too much into the story. However, I will highlight a few key aspects that make this movie good and worth every penny you spend on the ticket.

First thing first, it’s emotional. Like, intensely moving. So be prepared to shed some tears and lie to your partner sitting beside you that something went in your eyes. Single people won’t have to worry about this excuse.

Secondly, the writers didn’t hold back with this movie, not at all! There is kickass action, edgy arguments, and f-word bombs. Yes, you heard that right. F-word bomb. In an MCU movie. Made by Disney. Why it matters? Because Disney is notorious for putting too much sleep into the MCU movies and trying desperately to please audiences of all ages, genders, colours, shapes, and sizes.

With GotG Vol. 3, Gunn flipped the bird to Disney and went his way full-fledged. It’s two-and-half hours of pure fun and awesome entertainment.

Also, I don’t know what exactly it is, but it feels that this movie belongs back to late 2000 when MCU was still shaping up. It’s not about the CGI or any other aspect that didn’t age as it should have. It’s about the whole vibe of the movie. It doesn’t feel like another part of a bigger upcoming saga. It feels like one of those early Iron Man movies, whole and complete by itself, without the need to be a connecting piece.

Since the movie only came last week, I won’t be putting any plot details or similar spoilers. Overall, watching this movie in the theatre was an incredible cinematic experience. Get an IMAX ticket, maybe? Trust me, and you are not going to regret it.

Go on, watch it. It’s awesome.
