Mason Greenwood and Harriet Robson are both under scrutiny as investigations are ongoing. The Manchester United star has been arrested for allegations of sexual abuse.

The drama began when Harriet posted on Instagram. “To everyone who wants to know what Mason Greenwood actually does to me”. This was posted along with videos, photos, and voice recordings of the star. The videos show signs of domestic abuse. Photos of her cuts and bruises were also shown. Voice recordings of Greenwood were uploaded where he had said threatening messages.

Responses

Manchester United released their statement. “Manchester United reiterates its strong condemnation of violence of any kind. As previously communicated, Mason Greenwood will not train with, or play for, the club until further notice.”

The police have then responded with their own tweets. “The suspect was arrested yesterday (Sunday 30 January) afternoon and remains in custody. Inquiries are ongoing and the victim is being offered specialist support,” a police statement read at the time.

“We remind people to avoid any commentary or sharing of images that could compromise the victim’s right to lifelong anonymity, or risk prejudicing a live investigation with active proceedings.”

Robson’s family also released the following. “She has told us her phone has been hacked. We told her to take it down, which she has done but it’s out there now so it is too late,” Robson’s father was quoted as saying. “She is devastated because she didn’t want it released. We have known him (Greenwood) since the under 21s. He has been part of our family for two or three years. Their relationship has not been good for the last few months. She is completely devastated by it all. They were very much in love and have been together for a while. The police are dealing with it now.”

Robson herself has posted the following messages. “I’m grateful to everyone that has sent messages of support and encouragement – thank you,” she wrote. “The last few days have been very difficult and I’m taking a break from social media while the police make their investigations.”

Since Manchester United announced that Greenwood will no longer be training with them, there was no word on a replacement. However, a recent tweet surfaced that Man United is showing interest in Antony Matheus dos Santos from Brazil. They are not the only ones as Liverpool and Chelsea are also interested in the Brazilian winger.

Antony could be a very good replacement for Greenwood. The Brazilian has played an instrumental role in Ajax’s fine run this campaign, especially in the Champions League. The 21-year-old racked up two goals and four assists in Europe’s premier competition. Ajax won all six of their group stage matches.

His manager Erik ten Hag, who has been linked with a move to United, said in December that it would be hard to keep Antony. “From a sporting point of view, it is clear that he is an incredible talent,” Ten Hag told Good Morning Oranje. “He is going through an incredibly beautiful development. Especially if we perform in the Champions League, then it is clear that he will come into the spotlight and be interesting for a lot of clubs.”

If Ten Hag does take up the job at Man United, fans can expect the Dutch manager to try and persuade the Brazilian winger to join him.

Not just in society, but also within the game itself. “I think football, in many ways, does reflect the issues in society. But it also has the ability to lead thought in a variety of areas and provide better examples.”

Many football fans were shocked to hear Manchester United and England star Mason Greenwood arrested. He is under investigation for sexual and domestic abuse. Manchester United announced his suspension and many sponsors dropped him from their lists. FIFA 22 has also removed him from the lineup. The allegations were made by Harriet Robson who posted photos, videos, and voice recordings of the abuse.

“We can’t ignore the types of issues we see. You know, I’m very vocal about when we have issues we need to own them, we need to acknowledge them because it’s the only way we’re going to be able to find solutions.”

“One of the challenges that football has is that it’s very male-dominated. We still see that in leadership positions across the game. And that’s both in the on-field positions, by which I mean, technical staffs, but also off the field.”

“People like me, chief executives, and senior management figures. So, I think we would be benefited in so many ways in football to have a more diverse environment.”

Last month, Italy’s Supreme Court confirmed the conviction of former Brazil and AC Milan striker Robinho, who now lives in Brazil and played for the club before Gazidis arrived, to nine years in prison for his involvement in a gang rape in 2013, according to Reuters.

Gazidis became CEO of AC Milan, which has won 18 league titles in Italy, in 2018 having previously been CEO of English Premier League side Arsenal for close to 10 years.

“It’s not just this domestic violence and domestic abuse issue, we see a lot of issues across the game that has to be addressed. And you have to be proactive and acknowledge what the issues are before you can really take steps.”

Konami Drops Mason Greenwood. Another sponsor released an official statement dropping Greenwood from their game. Konami is responsible for the PES series of football games and its new eFootball game. The release is currently set for spring 2022.

Konami released a statement. “In light of the serious allegations made against Mason Greenwood, the player will be removed from our football titles until further notice. Specifically for PES 2021 on mobile, users cannot newly obtain the player, but existing owners are unaffected. Konami condemns violence of any kind. While police inquiries are ongoing it would be inappropriate to comment further.”

FIFA 22 has previously released a statement saying “Mason Greenwood has been removed from active squads in FIFA 22 and has also been suspended from appearing in FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) packs and Ultimate Draft.”

Nike previously suspended Mason Greenwood’s contract. They recently released a statement ending their sponsorship for good. Nike spokesperson said, “Mason Greenwood is no longer a Nike athlete”.

Rifts within the Manchester United team have also been reported recently. Cristiano Ronaldo, Edinson Cavani, and Victor Lindelof unfollowed him on Instagram.

United’s shirt sponsor TeamViewer said they are “closely monitoring developments”. 

DHL also issued a statement, saying: “We are aware of the recent allegations against Mason Greenwood. While we do not tolerate any kind of violence, we will not be commenting on the situation while the investigation is ongoing. Our partnership with Manchester United encompasses the team, the club and the global brand, and not one specific individual”.

Sponsors continue to drop out of contracts with Mason Greenwood following his arrest on suspicion of abuse. Konami dropping Mason Greenwood is only the latest on the string of cancellations he has received.

Manchester United seems to be divided in terms of their former teammate’s fate. According to reports, the players of the football team are clashing over the decision to remove him.

Mason Greenwood was arrested last week for suspicion of rape, sexual assault, assault, and threats to kill. He was then released by the GMP after he posted bail. The source also added “Some of those closest to him feel the course of justice should be allowed to run. But when some of the players started dumping him, they felt they had to as well. One of the players said it showed how the squad wasn’t together and showed that too many times they act as individuals”.

On Thursday, United boss Rangnick admitted that the forward’s arrest was a ‘topic within the team’, saying: ‘We had internal discussions but I’m pretty sure everyone will understand those internal discussions should stay internal.

Marcus Rashford, Edinson Cavani, Fred, and Jesse Lingard were also among those not following the striker, although Rashford, Lingard, and Fred have re-followed him.

Club captain Harry Maguire and Bruno Fernandes are in a group of players who, so far, are also continuing to follow their team-mate.

He is currently released on bail pending further investigation for allegations of assault, sexual assault, and making threats to kill. He spent three nights in jail as the inquiry was ongoing.

While all these are happening, no one was able to obtain additional information about the victim.

Today, the 18-year-old victim released a statement thanking everyone for their support. She also added that there will be no further comment from her until investigations have concluded.

Another sponsor drops out as FIFA 22 is removing Mason Greenwood from the lineup. The update was released on Playstation, Xbox, and PC platforms. It will no longer feature Greenwood on the game’s offline modes. He also doesn’t appear in the United squad list on the game. This update is available for download starting February 1, 2022.

On Jan. 30, photos, videos, and voice memos were posted to the Instagram account of a woman accusing Greenwood of assault. The graphic images depicted bruises, cuts, and blood accompanied by text implicating the Manchester United player. There was also a voice memo of a verbal altercation allegedly involving Greenwood. After being referred to police, Greenwood was reportedly arrested on “suspicion of rape and sexual assault” and held in custody for questioning. Police have not revealed the name of the victim nor the person who is the subject of the investigation.

Yesterday, GMP announced Greenwood has been “further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.”

Club spokesperson responded to CNN saying they are aware of “images and allegations circulating on social media” regarding the footballer, adding it would “not make any further comment until the facts have been established.”

On Sunday, Greater Manchester Police reported that “a man in his 20s has been arrested on suspicion of rape and assault”. The man is in custody for questioning and further inquiry. They also stated that earlier that morning they were made aware of “online social media images and videos posted by a woman reporting incidents of physical violence.”

Police also said it would not confirm any names of victims or potential offenders.

Social media influencer Harriet Robson accuses Greenwood of domestic violence. She showed photos of what appears to be her lip bleeding and bruises to her body. The post has been deleted Sunday.
