There is a local legend of an ancient monkey saving the locals from a troublesome demon. Since then the monkeys in the Lopburi province in central Thailand have relished a yearly meal nicknamed the “Tarzan Monkey Party”. This takes place at the War Phra Pang Sam Yot and is a folkloric ceremony of the monkeys and their capability to draw visitors.

The pagoda is recognised for having flocks of monkeys that wait for guests beside the Buddha Statues. This is the 31st such potluck for the local pagoda monkeys. The ceremony takes place in front of the Phra Pang Sam Yot pagoda in the Tha Hin district. 

The food is set before vans decorated only for the event with paint and portrayals of the monkeys. Over the van are hanging foods grown from the ground rope so the monkeys can have the challenge to win the prize toward the finish of each rope.

The greater part of the monkeys in the territory is kind as long as you don’t trouble them or attempt to grab their food. They are used to the guests coming in every day to visit the shrine. There is a statue of a monkey holding a banana before the shrine recognizing the estimation of the monkeys to draw in travellers and carry accomplishment to the town. Visitors are told, if you wish to give the monkeys food, simply place it on the ground and they’ll all run in for a feed.

The Phra Pang Sam Yot is one of the prime attractions in Lopburi that are just another symbol of Thailand’s antiquity and culture in the region.
