According to filings with the Securities and Exchange Commission, Musk sold 5.3 million shares of Tesla stock for an average price of $905.30. The sales account for barely 3.1 percent of the Tesla shares he owned outright at the start of Tuesday’s trading session, and less than 2% of his overall Tesla holdings when stock options he owns are factored in.

Elon tweeted “no further TSLA sales planned after today” after the sale.

The purpose of the transaction is not disclosed in the documents, but it appears to be to generate funds for his planned acquisition of Twitter and takeover of the firm.

Musk’s Tesla stock sales were significant enough to exert negative pressure on the stock. Before Tuesday, the number of shares sold constituted 20% of the typical trading value in Tesla shares this year. Tesla shares also lost 12.2 percent of their value during Tuesday’s trading, the largest one-day decline in Tesla stock since September 2020. Other investors went on a selling spree in response to the stock’s collapse, with 45 million shares changing hands, nearly double the number trading the day before.

Musk is anticipated to utilize his vast Tesla assets, which have made him the world’s richest person, to fund his purchase of Twitter, but that doesn’t imply he’ll have to sell all of them to cover the entire purchase price. Instead, he can borrow money by using the shares as collateral.

Part of the terms of the deal was shareholders will receive $54.90  per share in cash. This was Musk’s original offer giving them a 38% premium from its closing value.

The deal was accepted by the Twitter board unanimously and is expected to close this year. It comes after Musk claimed that he has about $46.5 billion in financing that enables the purchase. This was one of the main factors prompting the board to accept the offer.

“The Twitter Board conducted a thoughtful and comprehensive process to assess Elon’s proposal with a deliberate focus on value, certainty, and financing,” Twitter independent board chair Bret Taylor said. He called the proposal “the best path forward for Twitter’s stakeholders.”

 Twitter CEO Parag Agarwal said he will hold an all-hands meeting to answer questions about the deal. “I know this is a significant change and you’re likely processing what this means for you and Twitter’s future,” he said.

Elon Musk, the company’s CEO, does not earn a monetary salary or incentive. He’s solely paid in stock options. According to Courtney Yu, director of research at executive compensation firm Equilar, he has nearly exhausted the options available from the compensation package he received from Tesla in 2018, a package that turned out to be the most valuable package of stock options awarded by any corporation.

After factoring in the exercise price, the 93.9 million options Musk has gotten so far from the deal were valued at $86.8 billion as of Friday’s close.

Due to Tesla’s record earnings on Wednesday, Musk received 25.3 million of those options just this week. Based on analyst sales predictions, he’ll likely earn another 8.4 million options soon, most likely after the business reports its second or third-quarter results.

However, those 8.4 million options, worth billions, represent a modest percentage of what Musk could collect in the end. He will have received all 101 million split-adjusted options included in that 2018 salary package once he receives those additional options. The question should be whether he will be given even more options, possibly tens of millions.

Musk dodged a question about such a payday during an investor call Wednesday, saying simply, “There are no discussions currently underway for incremental compensation for me.”

Other CEOs prefer to get a payday instead of stick options including Jeff Bezos, the founder of Amazon, and Mark Zuckerberg, the founder of Facebook. Bezos gets about $81,000 a year and Zuckerberg gets $1. Their profit comes to from their shares.

The project is called Charge Around Australia which aims to install 18 printed solar panels that could recharge the vehicle. Paul Dastoor, the inventor of the printed solar panels, said the University of Newcastle team would be testing not only the endurance of the panels but their potential performance for other applications.

“This is actually an ideal testbed to give us information about how we would go about using and powering technology in other remote locations, for example, in space,” Dastoor told Reuters in the town of Gosforth, north of Sydney.

“(The) community is seeking these sorts of answers to the problems it’s being presented with, day in, day out, around climate change,” he said.

He was also asked if Tesla Founder Elon Musk has said anything. CAA was “showing how our innovative technology is now combining with his developments to develop new solutions for the planet,” Dastoor said.

The printed solar panel consists of laminated PET plastic that can be made at a cost of less than $10 a square meter. These are printed using a commercial-grade printer used to print wine labels.

This would make the charging convenient for people as there are not a lot of charging stations available for the car. Many would like to join the fight to conserve the plant’s resources and avoid further damaging it, however, they are concerned that there are not enough charging points available to make traveling convenient. Unlike gas stations where it’s constantly available, the charging station is located in select places only.

Currently, Elon Musk is already the largest shareholder of Twitter at 9%. Last week, other shareholders implemented a “poison pill” to stop Elon from acquiring 15% of the shares. Analyst Rob Enderle of Enderle Group says “poor impulse control and too much money are not a good combination.”

“Musk says he is going to turn Twitter into a social media platform with no moderation; there have been several of those and they don’t work,” he added.

“The trolls take over, they get too hostile and drive people away from the platform.”

“Musk is not exactly a free speech advocate,” Enderle said. “I think he just doesn’t like to be told ‘no’.”

Creative Strategies analyst Carolina Milanesi says “I don’t think anybody would argue that everything Elon Musk does he does for himself.”

“You hear at Tesla of racism, lack of unions, and the way workers are treated and it doesn’t seem to me that his priorities are in the right place.”

“Twitter might be thinking about what regulators are going to do if Musk takes over,” Milanesi said.

“Twitter has already had enough scrutiny, and they will have more if Musk buys it.”

Not all have negative thoughts on his takeover. Some have different opinions on the matter.

“You cannot deny what Musk’s accomplished,” said RiskSmith investing chief executive Richard Smith.

“I think he could probably transform Twitter.”

“I was forced [to lie] to save Tesla’s life and that’s the only reason,” Musk said at the TED conference in Vancouver Thursday. He went on to compare the experience to having someone point a gun at his child’s head.

Investors sued the billionaire, alleging Musk’s tweets “caused significant confusion and disruption in the market for Tesla’s stock and resulting harm to investors.”

Tesla investors are content that Elon Musk knowingly made the false claims. US District Judge Edward M. Chen said “no reasonable jury could find Musk’s tweets on August 7, 2018 accurate or not misleading.”

“Despite the findings by this Court, the SEC, and his own written consent, Musk has engaged in a high-profile public campaign to present a contradictory and false narrative,” according to the filing.

The motion for the restraining order comes after Musk said publicly at a TED Conference that he did not lie in his 2018 tweet.

In his TED talk interview, Elon Musk presented his reasons why he would like to acquire the platform. He wanted it to be a place where people could speak out without algorithms blocking their tweets. He did say that he is doing it because he believes “it is the future” of society. There are changes he would like to implement to improve the platform he tweeted was “dying”.

“Is someone you don’t like allowed to say something you don’t like? And if that is the case, then we have free speech.”

“I think we want to be very reluctant to delete things and just be very cautious with permanent bans; timeouts are better.”

“I think everyone will still blame me for everything,” he said. “If I acquire Twitter and something goes wrong, it’s my fault, 100%. I think there will be quite a few errors.”
