Today is Boxing Day. Right? But what actually is a Boxing Day? Why it is named like that? Where it is celebrated?

Well, we list down some key points to help you brush up on your information regarding the Boxing Day.

1.When Boxing Day is observed and celebrated?

Ans. December 26 every year is celebrated as Boxing Day across the globe.

2.Where it was originated?

Ans. Boxing Day originated in the United Kingdom, and apart from UK, it is celebrated across the countries that were the part of the British Empire, along with some European countries as well.

3.Why it is called ‘Boxing Day’? Why it started?

Ans. Traditionally, in Britain, the day after the Christmas was a day when the employers used to give a day off to their employees along with a ‘Christmas Box’ that included gifts and presents for their families. The employees and workers used to celebrate this day with their family, giving this box to their families. The box used to contain bonuses, or leftover food, clothing, as well as tools and seeds from the agricultural lords, and much more. This is what Historians pre-dominantly believe for the holiday name origination.

4.Which countries usually celebrate Boxing Day?

Ans. United Kingdom, along with Ireland, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand celebrates Boxing Day, along with some European Nations. Some of the European countries also observe this holiday as ‘Second Christmas Day’.

5.Is Boxing Day celebrated in USA?

Ans. Boxing Day is not a customary and traditional holiday norm in USA. However, there are several parts across the country, where the day after the Christmas is observed as a secular holiday. In USA December 26 is also Saint Stephen’s Day, a religious holiday.

6.Is Boxing Day celebrated in Asia?

Ans. While people in Asian countries have become pretty familiar with the customs of Boxing Day that is celebrated in many parts of the world and associate it with the day after Christmas, there is no traditional holiday or festive culture related to this day across the Asia.

7.Is there kind of boxing (fist-fight) involved during this day?

Ans. Unlike what the name suggests, there is no typical boxing match, or fist-fights or such sport function for this day. So, now you would be pretty much familiar about what Boxing Day is all about.

Top 4 Places to Celebrate Christmas in Thailand in a Memorable Way

Christmas is around the corner,
and you would have started exploring options and places to make this Christmas
festivity a memorable one. If Thailand is on your vacation list for this year’s
Christmas festival, then you would have plenty of options to make merry.
Believe me, last year’s Christmas festival I celebrated in Thailand was the one
I would like to visit and rejoice again and again.

While Christmas in Thailand is not a traditional festival, there isn’t even a single aspect that you would find making it any less magical, entertaining and fascinating than any other location around the world. A Buddhist dominated society, Christmas isn’t a holiday in Thailand, yet people from all backgrounds and sections does a fabulous job of embellishing everything from market to homes and else to bring in the jovial feel.

Why Celebrate Christmas in Thailand?

Year end is the time to vacation, and for your Christmas and New Year vacation, Thailand provides the right input that is unmatched and extraordinary. There are several reasons that make Thailand the perfect Christmas destination, including the pleasant tropical weather (as Europe and America may feel to be too chilly for your comfort), beautiful countryside, stunning beaches, amazing bar crawling options, multi-faceted Christmas shopping options, authentic food, and all at budget-friendly prices.

Where to
Celebrate Christmas in Thailand?

As I explored last year on my visit to Thailand, and as I heard about from other travelers through their first-hand experience, along with local’s suggestions, I have rounded up some significant and top Christmas celebration places in Thailand:

A Lovely Christmas Dinner

When you are with your partner or family, a cozy and warm dinner is a great idea, ion a place set amidst the Christmas decorations. You can try the old-house themed ‘The House’ restaurant in Chiang Mai (which I loved a lot) which has a special carol service with local choir. Bangkok offers aplenty options, like in special Christmas buffets at Silom hotel, along with the Mandarin Oriental, The Peninsula and many more. You can also try the city’s local pubs.

Experience Bangkok’s Vibrancy

From soaking in impressive Christmas display at Icon SIAM, Bangkok’s newest luxury mall situated on the river, to Amarin Plaza and many of Skytrain stops, there are tremendous options for you to take a stroll in the urban Bangkok and get spell bounded by the beautiful Christmas festive spirit.

Get Drenched in Chiang Mai’s Beauty

Known for its forested mountains, lush greenery and amazing outdoor activities, Chiang Mai offers a blend of exotic natural beauty with exciting urbane Christmas celebrations. The country’s cultural heart has a pleasant atmosphere during the Christmas time and you can enjoy fabulous American dishes on this day at Duke’s restaurant, or enjoy at rooftop infinity pool, bar and restaurant at Akyra Manor, or just relax amidst pool, spa, fitness center, and a cigar lounge at Anantara Chiang Mai Resort, situated on river Mae Ping’s banks.

Beach Getaway

If you are a frantic beach-lover and fond of water sports, then you have numerous options near Bangkok, as well as the world-famous Pattaya. Nothing gets as exciting for an adventure lover like having an exciting white Christmas celebration.

So, which option suits your liking? Pack your bags and have a great time
this Christmas!

Christmas is all about spending quality time with our friends, relatives, family and dear ones. This festive season is a month of celebrating joy and merriment with people around us. A lot of fun takes places on Christmas day, December 25 which is around the corner. You would rather enjoy the Christmas Eve than the actual Christmas day if you are a fun-loving person.

There is a lot that you can do on the eve of the big day but you are not aware about. You can spend the night at a church vigil if you are a committed Christian; you can dance down the entire night in a nightclub or even stay in your house with family. You can listen the sound of the bells, the merriments and the laughter down the streets. You can also be a Santa Claus and surprise your children. The choice of how to spend your Christmas Eve will largely depend on the type of lifestyle you live. Here’s a list of top 5 things to do during Christmas:

Donate a Toy:

Christmas is all about giving a gift to a child in need. This holiday is a heart-warming addition to your Christmas bucket list. Many shops and businesses will have Christmas Angel trees, where the ornaments hung are children’s wish lists.

Play a Game:

You can play some famous Christmas games with your friends, family and colleagues. The most famous game is Secret Santa. To play this game, write down the names of the players in chits and ask the players to pick a chit each. The player is the Secret Santa to the name he/she picks up from the chits. The secret Santa should give a surprise gift daily until Christmas and final reveal his identity to his Santa child on Christmas.

Watch Exciting Movie:

One of the best things to do from Christmas till New Year is to watch a good movie. The good thing is that you will get a wide variety of movies for Christmas to suit your needs satisfaction. There will be no limit on the movies to choose and you must ensure to settle for the best ones. They have no age limits because the message contained is religious and thus you can watch with your family including children.

Make Paper Snowflakes:

Making paper snowflakes is one of those activities for the whole family. You can make some to hang on the tree, decorate presents with others and even stick a few on the windows of your home for the neighbours to see.

Sing Carols:

Singing Christmas carols is one of the oldest traditions still continuing in many regions and churches. What a good way to usher in Christmas day by singing Christmas carols on the eve of the big day. Singing with you family members in your house is the purest joy you can ever experience this Christmas season. Choose the best Christmas carols.
