It alleged that there has been a plan to remove Kohli as the team captain. It began a month after the skipper announced he is stepping down as the T20 captain. BCCI president Sourav Ganguly revealed that he and the board members had requested Kohli to reconsider his decision in the T20I format. Kohli however denied having any communication.  He also added that he was informed about the ODI captaincy removal 90 minutes before the team selection meeting.

Chetan Sharma, the chief selector,  reiterated Ganguly’s words. And three weeks later, Kohli stepped down from Test captaincy as well.

Rashit Latif commented on his YouTube channel ‘Cricket Baaz with Waheed Khan’. “It has reached a dead end now. And there is nothing in a dead end. No way out. Whoever’s plan this was, it just did not work out. It was wrong and it backfired. The fact is when a player is leading a team for near about 10 years, his roots are deeply instilled in the team. You shouldn’t break that. It sets a bad example,” he stated.

We gave ourselves a real chance, something we can learn from and get better. What has always stood out for us is the energy and the passion. The Indian cricket team has dealt with a few blows recently. Virat Kholi announced that he is stepping down as the captain of test cricket. He already stepped down as a captain for ODI and T20 last year. All eyes are on the new captains to continue the winning streak of the team. So far, it does not look to be doing well.

The comment came after an umpire’s decision was overturned via a review. The umpire, on-field umpire Marais Erasmus gave the South African captain out lbw. Elgar asked for a review from a third umpire. The third umpire shows that the ball went over the stumps The review however had questionable outcomes. The review showed projections that even umpires question. The projection seems to have been tampered with showing an impossible trajectory.

The Indian skipper then approached the stump microphones and said “Focus on your team while they shine the ball. Not just the opposition. Trying to catch people all the time.” KL Rahul was then heard saying “It’s the whole country against 11 guys.” Another one to comment was Ashwin saying “You should find better ways to win, SuperSport.” Even an on-field umpire is caught on camera shaking his said while muttering “that’s impossible”.

During the conference, Indian bowling coach Paras Mhambrey said “We saw it, you saw it. I’ll leave that for the match referee to have a look at it. There’s nothing I can comment on it now. We’ve seen it all, just want to move on with the game now.”

Kohli was replaced by Rohit Sharma as the captain of the ODI (One Day International) format in December and previously stepped down as the T20 captain in September. In his tenure as a test cricket captain, he led India through 68 Tests, winning 40 and losing 17. Among his achievements as a captain is taking the  No. 1 spot in the ICC’s test cricket rankings.

The Board of Control for Cricket in India tweeted in response. They acknowledged all his (Virat Kohli) contributions as a captain – “for his admirable leadership qualities that took the Test team to unprecedented heights”.

He has taken the team to new heights arguably among the best captains around the world. He has been very successful in bringing back the prestige in the Indian Team. In his own right, he also became one of the top batters in the cricket league.
