Children’s Day History and Significance

Every year 14 November is celebrated as Children’s Day in India. This day is the birthday of the first Prime Minister of India, Jawaharlal Nehru. This special day is celebrated as Children’s Day. Jawaharlal Nehru was very fond of children, so children used to call him by the name of Chacha Nehru. Children’s Day is celebrated as a national festival in India. Born on November 14, 1889, Jawaharlal Nehru believed the strength of the country to be in the foundation of the society.

History of Children’s Day
Children’s Day is celebrated on different days in different countries. In India, this day is celebrated on 14 November. After the death of Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru in 1964, this day was unanimously celebrated as Children’s Day. Since 1924, it was celebrated as Children’s Day, but on 20 November 1954, the UN had announced to celebrate it.

Children’s Day is celebrated as a tribute to Jawaharlal Nehru as well as the rights of children. On this day, special consideration is given to the development of the social status of children, their rights and education. On this day, there is a function in schools and children get different types of gifts.
