Kartarpur Corridor Opens After 20 Months

After about twenty months, the wishes of the devotees were fulfilled. Corridor opened for Darbar Sahib in Pakistan. As soon as the registration was done, the first batch reached for darshan. On behalf of the Sikh Gurdwara Management Committee of Pakistan, all those devotees were welcomed by wearing a garland of flowers. Just before the Prakash Parv of Sri Guru Nanak Dev Ji, the Darbar Sahib is lit up with lights. Devotees also participated in Ardas and Kirtan on this special occasion.

Kartarpur is the holy place of Sikhs which is presently in Pakistan. The first Sikh Guru, Shri Guru Nanak Dev Ji spent the last time of his life here. But due to being in Pakistan, there was a problem in the vision here, which efforts have been made to solve the Kartarpur Corridor. Till a few years ago, Sikh devotees of India used to see the Darbar Sahib only through binoculars. But with the opening of the Kartarpur Corridor, he can now go straight to Darbar Sahib and bow his head.

What is Kartarpur Corridor?
One end of the Kartarpur Corridor is in India. It has been associated with Dera Baba Nanak in Gurdaspur, Punjab. At the same time, there is Darbar Sahib Gurdwara in Pakistan, whose distance is 4 kilometers from the border. The total length of the corridor is about five kilometres. Visa is not required for darshan after this corridor. This corridor was inaugurated on 9 November 2019. However, on 16 March 2020, this corridor had to be closed due to the outbreak of Corona.

Kartarpur Sahib Gurdwara is a holy pilgrimage site for the Sikhs. It is believed to have been founded in 1522 by Guru Nanak Dev of the Sikhs. He spent the last years of his life here. Guru Nanak Dev Ji lived here for 17-18 years of his life. This is where the light of Guru Nanak Dev was absorbed.
