Mae Fah Luang University (MFU) has officially launched the MFU Staff Yoga Club, reinforcing its commitment to holistic well-being, sustainable work–life balance, and people-centered organizational development. The launch ceremony took place on January 28, 2025, at the Kham Mok Luang Meeting Room, 5th Floor, E-Park Building, M-Square Complex.

The opening ceremony was presided over by Associate Professor Dr. Darunee Wattanasirivet, Vice President of Mae Fah Luang University and Chair of the Club’s Executive Committee, highlighting strong leadership support for health and wellness initiatives aimed at university personnel.
Certified Wellness Initiative for MFU Staff
The MFU Staff Yoga Club has been formally certified as a sports and recreational club for university personnel under Certificate No. 6/2568, issued by the Mae Fah Luang University Committee on Sports and Recreation Management for Personnel. The certification is valid for three years, from July 29, 2025, to July 29, 2028, ensuring long-term continuity of the program.
The launch event marked the official introduction of the club and aimed to raise awareness of yoga as a safe, accessible, and effective practice for physical health, mental well-being, and stress management. It also served as a platform to strengthen collegial ties and foster positive relationships among MFU staff through shared wellness activities.

Yoga for Health – Knowledge and Practice
As part of the program, participants joined a panel discussion on “Yoga for Health”, followed by a hands-on workshop focusing on yoga practice and proper posture alignment. The sessions were led by Ms. Supannee Muangking (Teacher Yim), with assistance from Mr. Montree Muangking (Teacher Keng)—both experienced yoga instructors with more than seven years of professional practice.
The instructors hold internationally recognized certifications, including RYT200, RYS200, and E-RYT500, and shared practical guidance on incorporating yoga into daily routines safely and sustainably. The sessions emphasized yoga’s relevance to modern working life, highlighting its role in improving flexibility, concentration, emotional balance, and overall quality of life.

Supporting Sustainable Human Resource Development
Beyond physical exercise, yoga was presented as a valuable tool for enhancing work–life balance and supporting sustainable human resource development. The initiative reflects MFU’s organizational philosophy that places people at the heart of institutional success, recognizing that staff health and well-being are fundamental to long-term sustainability and performance.

India–Thailand Cultural and Wellness Collaboration
The launch of the MFU Staff Yoga Club also received warm congratulations from the Consulate General of India in Chiang Mai, which highlighted its long-standing collaboration with MFU in organizing International Yoga Day celebrations over the past four years.
In a statement shared on social media, the Consulate noted that the initiative would help promote physical and mental well-being while fostering a culture of health and harmony within the university community. The Consulate also shared its ongoing efforts to expand International Yoga Day activities to other universities across Northern Thailand, including Chiang Mai University, Maejo University, University of Phayao, and Naresuan University, with plans to reach out to Chiang Mai Rajabhat and Chiang Rai Rajabhat universities in the near future.
The collaboration was described as a testament to the strong cultural and educational ties between India and Thailand, with hopes that MFU’s Yoga Club will inspire other institutions to adopt similar wellness programs.
A Model for University Wellness Programs
The establishment of the MFU Staff Yoga Club positions Mae Fah Luang University as a role model in integrating wellness into the workplace. By investing in initiatives that support physical health, mental resilience, and community building, MFU continues to demonstrate how universities can nurture a healthier, more balanced, and sustainable work environment for their personnel.
