Bangkok is constantly evolving, and one of the city’s most surprising transformations can be found under the Sukhumvit 50 expressway. Once a neglected, uninviting space, it has been reinvented as the 72nd Anniversary Commemorative Park – Bangchak Brings Happiness to the Community, a lively urban oasis designed for relaxation, play, and connection with nature.

Spanning over 5 rai, this new public park is the result of a collaborative effort between the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), Expressway Authority of Thailand, Bangchak Corporation, and BSRC, turning an underused area into a chic, fully functional community space.

What to See and Do
Visitors will find a wide range of activities for all ages:
-
Futsal and basketball courts for sports enthusiasts
-
Skateboard plaza for urban thrill-seekers
-
Artificial climbing wall for adventure lovers
-
Playground and kid-friendly equipment for families
-
Multipurpose plaza with mini amphitheater for events and gatherings
-
Ecological Skywalk, a striking orange elevated walkway perfect for a scenic stroll

The park is also a green haven with over 110 trees, including Bodhi, Banyan, Ruanphueng, and Prediyathorn yellow trees, which provide shade, absorb carbon, filter PM2.5 dust, and even generate some solar-powered electricity.

A Park Within Reach
As part of the city’s “15-minute park” policy, the park ensures that residents can access green spaces within walking distance. Khlong Toei district alone now boasts 11 such parks, helping bring nature closer to city life.

Whether you want to jog, cycle, or just relax with the family, the 72nd Anniversary Commemorative Park offers a peaceful escape without leaving the city. Its unique location under the expressway makes it one of Bangkok’s most innovative urban green spaces.
