Thailand Expects 200,000 Chinese Tourists Through Nihao Month Campaign

Bangkok, Thailand – The Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) has officially launched the “Nihao Month 2025” campaign to boost Chinese travel during the Golden Week holiday season. The programme combines cultural events, digital promotions, and travel privileges, with the goal of attracting over 200,000 Chinese visitors between 26 September and 8 October, generating an estimated THB 10 billion in tourism revenue.

The campaign launch was presided over by Mr. Yang Xiao Long, Counsellor (Cultural Section) of the Embassy of the People’s Republic of China in Thailand, and Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, TAT Governor, along with senior TAT executives.

Ms. Thapanee said the campaign highlights the friendship between Thailand and China while celebrating 50 years of diplomatic relations. She added that the new Trusted Thailand Stamp reinforces safety and quality standards, positioning Thailand as a welcoming destination for Chinese travellers.

Key Campaign Highlights

  • Thailand, Told by You – UGC Challenge: A content creator competition across China that attracted entries via Xiaohongshu. Fifty winners, together with 50 invited influencers, will join a FAM trip (5–10 October) across Bangkok, Chiang Mai, Phuket, Pattaya, and Ko Samui.

  • Amazing Mid-Autumn in Thailand (6 October): A cultural showcase at Parade, One Bangkok, featuring mooncake making, lantern crafting, calligraphy workshops, and appearances by Thai actors Billkin Putthipong Assaratanakul and Pong Nawat Kulrattanarak.

  • Joint Promotions (20 September–31 December): Partnered with platforms like Meituan, Ctrip, Tongcheng, Alipay, WeChat, RED, and Douyin to offer discounts, cashback, e-coupons, and travel perks.

  • Chinese Passport Privilege Programme: Exclusive shopping and lifestyle benefits at leading retail groups such as Siam Piwat, The Mall Group, Central Embassy, One Bangkok, 7-Eleven, Lotus, Makro, and Tops.

Tourism Outlook

TAT forecasts daily arrivals of 25,000–30,000 Chinese tourists during Golden Week, potentially reaching 300,000 visitors. To stimulate demand, TAT is also supporting charter flights from Tier 2–3 cities in China and promoting group incentive tours.

“By combining cultural celebration, digital storytelling, and exclusive promotions, Nihao Month strengthens Thailand’s image as a top choice for Chinese travellers,” Ms. Thapanee said.
