Australian citizens stranded in India will be ‘homecoming’

Prime Minister Scott Morrison said that the ban on Australian citizens returning from India badly affected by the Corona virus would be lifted next Saturday and the first day that the first flight to take civilians home would arrive in Darwin city on the same day. For the first time in history, the Australian government has recently banned the entry of its citizens who spend up to 14 days in India before returning home.

For violating this ban, the government has warned of imprisonment for five years or a fine of US $ 50,899. The move was criticized by many MPs, doctors, civil society and businessmen. The government’s order on the matter will expire on May 15

Australia will send three aircraft between 15 May and 31 May to bring civilians home. The first aircraft will reach Darwin on 15 May. There are still restrictions on direct commercial flights from India.
