Bangkok marked another year of collective action for women’s and children’s safety as the city, together with the embassies of the Benelux Union, hosted the 4th annual “A Safe Journey with Her” bike ride on 30 November 2025. The event is part of the global 16 Days of Activism Against Gender-Based Violence, with this year’s focus on Ending Digital Violence.

Held at the Benjakitti Forest Park Museum Building in Khlong Toei, the event brought together families, students, diplomats, UN representatives and cycling communities in a show of solidarity.
Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt joined the ride and officially opened the event alongside H.E. Michel Parys, Ambassador of Belgium, as they cut the ribbon to start the family-friendly cycling route.
Promoting Safety On the Streets and Online

The campaign highlights the urgent need to address violence in all forms, whether in public areas or in the digital world. Organizers emphasized building awareness, sharing knowledge and encouraging responsible behavior to make online and offline spaces safer for women and girls.
This year, riders followed a scenic route starting from Benjakitti Park, crossing the Green Bridge, looping through Lumpini Park and passing the Thai–Belgian Bridge, a symbol of Thai–Belgian friendship and joint advocacy for safer communities.
Community Pledges for Kinder Online Spaces

A key moment of the event took place at the Pledge Wall, where families and participants committed to safer online practices.
UN Women Regional Goodwill Ambassador Cindy Sirinya Bishop joined the gathering, encouraging everyone, especially young people, to stand against digital harassment, cyberbullying and online abuse.
Participants pledged to:
-
Be kind and respectful online
-
Speak up against cyberbullying
-
Report abusive content
-
Support friends experiencing online harm
International Collaboration for Change

The event was co-hosted by the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and the embassies of the Netherlands, Belgium and Luxembourg, in partnership with UN Women, UNFPA and the Bangkok Urban Cycling Alliance (BUCA). Together, they reinforced the message that protecting women and children requires sustained cooperation, innovation and community participation.
As the 16 Days of Activism continue worldwide, Bangkok’s “A Safe Journey with Her” stands as a reminder that every small action, from a family bike ride to a digital pledge, helps build a safer and more respectful future for all.
