The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, 15 Embassies and UNESCAP Sign Pledge on Environment Performance and Sustainability under Eco-Capitals Forum Tuesday, November 18, 2025 At Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives (Suan Mokkh Bangkok) and Vachirabenjatas Park (Rot Fai Park)

Bangkok, Thailand – On November 18, 2025, the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA), led by the Governor of Bangkok, together with 15 diplomatic missions and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP), signed the Pledge on Environment Performance and Sustainability under the Eco-Capitals Forum at Buddhadasa Indapanno Archives (Suan Mokkh Bangkok). This partnership aims to collaborate in transferring to a more livable city for all.

The Eco-Capitals Forum aims to create proactive environmental cooperation among the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration, diplomatic missions, and international organizations in Thailand through the implementation of each embassy’s Action Plans under eight framework areas: Promote Solid Waste Management, Transportation, Green Urban Environment and Adaptation, Energy Conservation and Alternative Energy Sources, Air, Water, Food, and Management and Green Economy. The framework is developed according to the current environment policy priorities of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration and align with the Sustainable Development Goals.

The diplomatic missions and international organizations participated in this signing ceremony include the Australian Embassy, Austrian Embassy, Embassy of Canada, Royal Danish Embassy, Delegation of the European Union to Thailand, Embassy of Finland, French Embassy, Embassy of the Federal Republic of Germany, Embassy of Italy, Embassy of Japan, Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands, Royal Norwegian Embassy, Embassy of Sweden, Embassy of Switzerland, British Embassy (UK), and the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Asia and the Pacific (UNESCAP).

The ceremony began with opening remarks by the Danish Ambassador, Swiss Ambassador, UNESCAP Executive Secretary, and the Governor of Bangkok, followed by the signing of the pledge by the Governor of Bangkok, ambassadors or representatives from all 15 embassies, and the Executive Secretary of UNESCAP. Following the signing, the signatories jointly planted 17 Monkey Flower Trees (Pradoo Daeng) at Vachirabenjatas Park (Rot Fai Park) to symbolize the launch of the Eco-Capitals Forum 2025 and to demonstrate our environmental cooperation.
