India and Thailand Strengthen Naval Ties During 40th Coordinated Patrol in Phuket

The Indian Navy and Royal Thai Navy continued to strengthen their maritime partnership during the 40th India–Thailand Coordinated Patrol (INDO-THAI CORPAT), with the harbor phase held in Phuket from November 7 to 9, 2025.

According to the Royal Thai Navy, Vice Admiral Weerudom Muangjeen, Commander of the Third Naval Area Command, assigned Captain Natthawat Wichakul, Deputy Chief of Staff, to represent Thailand at the official dinner hosted by the Indian Navy on November 8. The reception took place onboard INS KARMUK at the Phuket Deep Sea Port, where the Thai delegation was warmly welcomed by Commodore Nitesh Garg, Naval Component Commander and Flotilla Commodore of the Andaman and Nicobar Command.

The event was attended by officers and crew from both navies, reflecting the long-standing friendship and mutual respect between the two maritime forces. The evening unfolded in a warm and cordial atmosphere, further solidifying the bond between Thailand and India.

In a post by the Embassy of India to Thailand, the harbor phase of the 40th CORPAT was described as highlighting “excellent bonhomie and operational synergy between the Indian Navy and Royal Thai Navy.” The program featured cross-deck visits, social interactions, friendly sports, and Sea Phase planning, emphasizing both nations’ shared commitment to maintaining safe and secure seas in the Andaman Sea and the wider Indo-Pacific region.

The India–Thailand Coordinated Patrol (CORPAT), first launched in 2005, serves as an important initiative to strengthen maritime cooperation, enhance interoperability, and ensure regional stability through joint surveillance and coordinated patrols along their shared maritime boundary.

With its 40th iteration, the exercise continues to symbolize the growing strategic partnership between New Delhi and Bangkok, underpinned by mutual trust, regional security cooperation, and a shared vision for a free and open Indo-Pacific.
