India and the European Union marked a major milestone in their diplomatic and economic relationship at the 16th India–EU Summit, signaling a stronger, more future-focused partnership between the two global players.
The high-level meeting brought together Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi, President of the European Council António Costa, and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen for wide-ranging discussions covering political, economic, and strategic cooperation. The leaders reviewed the full scope of India–EU relations and explored concrete steps to fast-track collaboration across priority sectors.
A central outcome of the summit was the successful conclusion of negotiations on the long-awaited India–EU Free Trade Agreement (FTA), widely seen as a game-changer for bilateral trade and investment.
