India Marks 77th Republic Day in Bangkok with Grand Diplomatic Reception

Bangkok, Thailand — The Embassy of India in Bangkok hosted a prestigious evening reception to commemorate the 77th Republic Day of India, drawing more than 1,200 guests from across Thailand’s political, diplomatic, business, and cultural communities.

The celebration was graced by H.E. Mr. Vijavat Isarabhakdi, Vice Minister for Foreign Affairs of Thailand, who attended as Chief Guest, while H.E. Mr. Srettha Thavisin, former Prime Minister of Thailand, joined as a Special Guest. The event also welcomed Members of Parliament, senior officials from the Royal Thai Government, members of the diplomatic corps, academics, business leaders, and prominent representatives of the Indian diaspora in Thailand.

In his address, Ambassador of India to Thailand, Mr. Nagesh Singh, reflected on the enduring importance of the democratic principles embedded in India’s Constitution and how these values have guided the nation’s progress over the decades. He also emphasized the need to further deepen the India–Thailand Strategic Partnership, describing it as a vital pillar for peace, shared prosperity, and regional stability.

The evening featured a cultural highlight as celebrated Thai vocalist Khun Ann Mitchai delivered stirring performances of both the Thai Royal Anthem and the Indian National Anthem, earning warm applause from the audience and underscoring the spirit of friendship between the two nations.

The reception served not only as a commemoration of India’s Republic Day but also as a reflection of the strong and evolving ties between India and Thailand—anchored in shared values, people-to-people connections, and a common vision for the future.
