Bangkok, Thailand – Thailand and Norway reaffirmed their long-standing friendship and commitment to closer cooperation during a meeting between Mrs. Krongkanit Rakcharoen, Director-General of the Department of European Affairs, and H.E. Mrs. Astrid Emilie Helle, Ambassador of Norway to Thailand. The meeting also welcomed Mr. Trond Gabrielsen, Director for East Asia and Oceania Section, Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway, on the occasion of his working visit to Thailand and Southeast Asia.
Both sides celebrated a milestone year — 120 years of diplomatic relations between Thailand and Norway — and discussed ways to deepen collaboration in key areas such as healthcare, maritime medicine, and the green transition.
The talks also focused on the Thailand–EFTA Free Trade Agreement (FTA), particularly on the ratification process and future cooperation in aquaculture capacity building. In addition, the discussion touched on joint efforts within ASEAN and various multilateral platforms including the OECD, UNHRC, and WTO.
Regional and global developments were also on the agenda, with both parties exchanging views on the situations in Ukraine, Myanmar, and Thailand–Cambodia relations.
