Phuket, famous for its beaches and lively culture, is now home to a landmark that blends spirituality with tradition—the Shrimant Ganpati Temple (Devalai). Opened in 2024, this sacred site has quickly become a destination for both devotees and travelers, offering blessings of success, prosperity, and happiness.
Inspired by Pune’s 132-Year-Old Temple
The Phuket shrine is modeled after the Shreemant Dagdusheth Halwai Ganapati Temple in Pune, India, a beloved landmark with over 132 years of history. By bringing this spiritual heritage to Thailand, the temple strengthens cultural ties between the Thai and Indian communities while offering visitors a chance to connect with one of the most iconic traditions of Ganesh worship.

The Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, has personally invited both Thai and international visitors to experience the blessings of Lord Shrimant Ganpati. She emphasized the temple’s role as not just a place of worship, but also as a cultural bridge that enhances Phuket’s identity as a destination for spiritual and cultural tourism, alongside its global reputation for beaches and leisure.

By promoting the Shrimant Ganpati Temple as a new cultural landmark, TAT aims to strengthen Phuket’s position not only as a beach destination but also as a hub for spiritual and cultural tourism.
The Wealthiest Form of Ganesha Comes to Thailand
The temple enshrines Lord Shrimant Ganpati, revered as the wealthiest form of Ganesha in the world. It is the only one of its kind in Thailand, and the second in the world after the iconic Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple in Pune, India.
For the Thai-Indian community, as well as locals and expats across Asia, the Phuket temple represents not just a place of worship, but also a cultural connection to India’s enduring spiritual traditions.

Sacred Points of Worship
Inside the Shrimant Ganpati Temple, visitors can explore four main points of devotion:
-
Shrimant Ganpati – the central deity, known for bestowing wealth and success.
-
Shiva Lingam – symbolizing Lord Shiva, father of Ganesha.
-
Mushika, the mouse – where devotees whisper their wishes to be granted.
-
The Ganesha Family Shrine – located on the second floor, representing divine harmony and family blessings.

Daily Aarti Rituals with Guruji from India
A highlight of the temple is the daily “Aarti” ceremony, performed four times a day. Adding to its authenticity, the rituals are led by a Guruji from the Dagdusheth Ganpati Temple in Pune, ensuring that devotees in Phuket experience the same spiritual energy found in India.
