Chaos in Belgium Rises as Protesters Emerge Amidst Covid

Water Cannons and tear gas had been fired and had been used by the Police to the protesters in Brussels City, Belgium, as displayed by footage in Social Media.

Belgium is the latest country in the world to encounter disorder amidst its government’s latest Covid-19 restrictions.

People were protesting about the government’s rules including the broader use of masks, the required working within the compounds of the employees homes and the testing of people in nightclubs if they want to enjoy the place without wearing facemasks.

Disturbance sparked at the protest demonstrations in Belgium and the Netherlands within the weekend as more stringent Covid-19 restrictions to limit the spread of re-escalating pandemic compel people to assemble and protest in some countries in Europe.

ON Sunday, November 21, 2021, multitudes of people marched across central Brussels to protest about the intensified restrictions implemented by the Belgian government to fight the latest increase of Covid-19 cases.

The march which authorities estimated involved around 35,000 people started nonviolently but escalated to brutality as a certain hundred of people began attacking officers smashing cars and setting garbage pails on fire while police retaliated by using water cannons and teargas on them.

According to Police Spokesperson Vande Keere that they had recorded injuries although it is indefinite on how many, as it is also unclear on how many of  the protesters had been captured.

Relatively, Demonstors had previously assembled to protest against the government’s direction to receive the Covid-19 vaccination as well as the probable actions to implement the mandatory shots.
