Corona Cases Increased in Russia, Work Banned in Moscow

Russia’s administration on Thursday imposed an 11-day ban on work in Moscow to prevent the spread of the virus as more people stay indoors, amid a steady increase in cases of Kovid-19 in Russia. The Government Corona Virus Task Force reported that 1,159 people died of the infection in 24 hours, taking the total number of dead to 235,057. Since the outbreak of the epidemic in the country, the highest number of deaths have been reported in a single day. Apart from this, 40,096 new cases of infection have been reported on Thursday.

Russian President Vladimir Putin ordered a ban on work between October 30 and November 7 to prevent infection. During this, there is a provision to close most government organizations and private businesses. He encouraged the most affected areas to implement it at the earliest. Some regions implemented it earlier this week.

Schools, gyms, entertainment venues and most stores will remain closed in Moscow after Thursday, while restaurants and cafes will be allowed to take food home. Stores and drug stores selling essential commodities and ration items will be allowed to open during the lockdown . Again, the administration has become fully alert in view of the increase in corona infected cases. The administration is trying to bring the situation under control as soon as possible.

President Vladimir Putin’s government is pinning its hopes on domestic vaccines such as the Sputnik v jab. Only 32 percent of Russia’s population was fully vaccinated, matching COVID-19 data from regions. President Putin last week ordered a nationwide paid holiday between October 30 and November 7 to address rising infections. Moscow authorities have ordered the closure of non-essential services in the capital from Thursday to control the Pandemic. Streets in Moscow were slightly less congested than usual on Thursday morning, but the city’s vast metro network was as busy as ever, with many commuters not wearing masks. At present, the situation in Russia is very worrying. It is said that so far more than 4 lakh people have died in the country due to corona infection.
