Corona’s New Variant Omicron Entry in 24 Countries

Omicron, a new variant of the corona virus, is spreading rapidly around the world. In the last one week, it has reached from South Africa to 24 countries. A case of this has also been confirmed in America late on Wednesday night. So far, a total of more than 30 countries have sealed their borders, including travel bans, to prevent this variant.

Omicron so far Australia, Austria, Belgium, Botswana, Canada, Czech Republic, Denmark, Germany, Hong Kong, Israel, Italy, Japan, Netherlands, Nigeria, Portugal, Reunion, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland UK, South Has reached Korea and America.

  • Strict restrictions were already imposed on the border in China. Here only citizens and permit holders are allowed to enter the country. Apart from this, Hong Kong has banned people coming from South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
  • Israel has banned people coming from abroad from entering the country for the next 14 days. Citizens of Israel who are outside the country will have to stay in Quarantine for 14 days upon their return. This rule will also apply to fully vaccinated people.
  • Japan has closed its borders to people coming from abroad for a month. It also includes foreign students and business men.
  • Morocco has suspended all incoming flights from other countries for two weeks.
  • Australia suspended all flights to and from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Seychelles, South Africa and Zimbabwe for at least 14 days.
    Brazil has banned incoming flights from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
  • Cambodia has imposed travel bans on people arriving from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zimbabwe, Malawi, Angola and Zambia.
  • Canada has banned citizens of other countries from traveling to Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe from 12 November.
  • France has suspended flights from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
  • Germany has suspended all flights from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, Zambia and Zimbabwe.
  • Indonesia has banned entry into the country for those who have spent the last 14 days in Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, Nigeria, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
  • Italy has banned the arrival of anyone who has traveled to Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe in the past 14 days.
  • Kuwait has suspended direct flights from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, Zambia and Zimbabwe. Along with this, the entry of citizens of other countries traveling to these countries has also been banned in the country.
  • Malaysia has banned people coming from South Africa, Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia and Zimbabwe.
  • The Maldives has banned foreigners traveling to Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe within the last 14 days.
  • Malta has banned travel to Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe.
  • The Netherlands has banned the entry of foreign nationals from Botswana, Eswatini, Lesotho, Malawi, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa and Zimbabwe. This restriction will not be imposed on the citizens of the country.

In view of the threat of Omicron variant, the Indian government on Monday issued a new guideline for international travelers. According to this, all passengers coming from ‘at risk’ countries will have to undergo a Covid-19 test as soon as they arrive. The condition of testing will be applicable even if the incoming passengers are fully vaccinated.

Except for ‘at risk’ countries, passengers from other countries will be allowed out of the airport. They will have to do self-monitoring for 14 days. Countries that have been excluded from Omicron’s danger category, 5% of the passengers coming from there will definitely be tested.
