Earthquake Hits Southeast Australia

An earth tremor measured 5.8 in magnitude had shaken the southeastern region of Australia, with the buildings of Melbourne City left ruined.

The earthquake took place on Wednesday, September 22, 2021, at around 9:15 am local time in Mansfield Town, nearby Victoria State in southeast Australia.

According to Prime Minister Scott Morrison that there were no reports of severe injuries which he voiced as very good news.

The quite powerful tremor which particularly hits Melbourne was also felt in closeby places in South Australia as well as in New South Wales and was succeeded by two 4.0 and 3.1 magnitude aftershocks.

Although the earthquake was one of the most powerful that hit Australia in the past few years, it does not seem to have created any serious damage.

Moreover, the Victoria State Emergency had alerted the residents of the country for probable aftershocks saying that the people who are living in Victoria are vulnerable and should avoid driving, coming near damaged buildings, and other risky areas.
