Elon Musk Deploys Starlink Satellites in Ukraine answering the call of the Ukrainian Vice Prime Minister. On Saturday Vice PM Mykhailo Fedorov tweeted:
‘@elonmusk, while you try to colonize Mars — Russia try to occupy Ukraine! While your rockets successfully land from space — Russian rockets attack Ukrainian civil people! We ask you to provide Ukraine with Starlink stations and to address sane Russians to stand’
Less than 11 hours later, Elon Musk replies with ‘Starlink service is now active in Ukraine. More terminals en route
The plea came when the Russian attacks have begun to interrupt the local telecom services. Many Ukrainians were left without internet access for three days since Russia has deployed its rockets. Officials were keen to continue the internet services to combat the Russian propaganda. They would also like to continue to share the atrocities that were done by the Russians.
This could also help families stay in touch as the war has torn many apart. Many of the men are called to defend their city with their mothers, wives, and sisters staying at home.
Vice PM thanked SpaceX and also called on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, and Netflix to block Russian-related accounts.
‘Thank you @elonmusk and @SpaceX for enabling Starlink and sending Starlink receivers to Ukraine.’
‘We’ve also asked @Netflix for the support. We appealed to them to block the Russian Federation’s access to Netflix and shut off Russian content. We believe you do care. Let’s stop this disgraceful bloody war!’
On Wednesday, Ukraine was under cyberattacks that took down important websites. Ukraine’s Foreign Ministry, Cabinet of Ministers, and Parliament website were all offline. The attack has also affected some banks.
