Empowering Tomorrow’s Leaders: Chris Sammons Takes the Lead at Bangkok Patana School

In a stride toward a promising future, Bangkok Patana School proudly welcomes Mr. Chris Sammons as its new Head of School. With a wealth of experience in education and a profound commitment to intercultural learning, Mr. Sammons is set to guide the institution, its teachers, students, and staff through the academic year 2023/24.

Mr. Sammons’ journey as an educator spans an impressive 28 years, with notable positions that have enriched his understanding of education’s transformative power. Notably, he recently served as the Principal at West Island School in Hong Kong, a role that cemented his reputation for innovative leadership and dedication to academic excellence. His impact has been felt across diverse educational landscapes, from St. Katherine’s School in Bristol to educational institutions in Warwickshire and Oxford.

Education is not merely a profession for Mr. Sammons, but a passion deeply rooted in academic qualifications that reinforce his commitment. Holding an MA (Hons) in Neuroscience and Psychology of Mental Health from King’s College London, a Postgraduate Certificate in International Studies, and a BA (Hons) in Economics and Politics, Mr. Sammons combines a rich tapestry of knowledge to propel Bangkok Patana School forward.

Accompanying Mr. Sammons on this journey is his wife, Julie, a fellow educator. Julie has carved her own path in the field with a specialization in teaching hearing-impaired children. Together, their shared commitment to education amplifies the positive influence they’re poised to bring to the Bangkok Patana community.

“I am looking forward to the opportunity to make a positive impact on the lives of students, teachers, and staff while adapting to the new environment and culture,” stated Chris Sammons. “Diversity is a rich resource to learn with and from – for all of us. Attending to cultural differences, perspective taking, and collaboration are important skills for the workplace and life. The unique experiences of Bangkok Patana create capable learners who can meet the challenges of a global workplace. In fact, it is the diversity and opportunity of schools such as Bangkok Patana that create our best future leaders.”

This vision underscores Mr. Sammons’ belief that the school’s environment should echo the values of a nurturing family: kindness to self and others, appreciation of individual strengths, collective problem-solving, and a sprinkle of fun. As Bangkok Patana School embarks on this new chapter of leadership, it’s with a resolute determination to challenge students with rigorous learning, prioritize their well-being, and cultivate their commitment to becoming active global citizens.

With open arms and a shared sense of enthusiasm, the entire community extends a warm welcome to Chris and Julie Sammons. Their presence signifies the dawn of a new era, one that promises to empower young minds, foster cultural understanding, and shape leaders who will thrive in an increasingly interconnected world. As we embrace this journey, it’s evident that the future of Bangkok Patana School is in capable hands – hands that will guide, nurture, and uplift, ensuring a legacy of excellence and empowerment for generations to come.
