Euthanasia Law in Force in New Zealand

The law of euthanasia has come into force in New Zealand. Under this, only those people will be allowed to die of will, who are suffering from terminal illness. That is, a disease that ends life in the next six months. Previously, euthanasia was legalized in the United States, Switzerland, the Netherlands, Spain, Belgium, Luxembourg, Canada, Colombia, Australia, and France. Each of these countries has different terms and conditions for cooperation in death.

In New Zealand, this procedure requires the consent of at least two doctors. There was a long debate going on in New Zealand regarding the implementation of this law. This was followed by a referendum, in which more than 65 percent of the people voted in favor of it. When the law came into force, 61-year-old Stuart Armstrong, who has been diagnosed with prostate cancer, said he was no longer worried about how he would die, as euthanasia would not cause pain.

A large section in New Zealand is against this law. He says that euthanasia will weaken the society’s respect for human life and values. This will reduce care for vulnerable people, especially those with disabilities or in the late days of life. The country’s Health Ministry has said that every year 950 people will be able to apply under this law. 350 of those who applied will be helped to die, so that they can get rid of the painful life.
