In a groundbreaking achievement, YouTube has announced that the first trailer of Grand Theft Auto VI has garnered an astounding 93 million views within the first 24 hours on the Rockstar Games YouTube channel. This remarkable milestone has shattered the previous record for a non-music video debut on the platform. With its release, the first trailer of GTA VI outperformed the previous record-holder for the highest viewership of a non-music video on YouTube. This record was previously held by Mr. Beast’s video titled “Every Country On Earth Fights for $250,000,” which was posted on August 19, 2023, and amassed 59.4 million views within a 24-hour period.

Within a mere 72 hours, the trailer for GTA VI amassed an astounding 120 million views. Since its debut, the YouTube creators and gaming community have collectively generated an impressive 250 million views of Grand Theft Auto VI content, as reported by the video platform.

Lucia, the first female protagonist in the Grand Theft Auto franchise, takes the lead role in Grand Theft Auto VI, set in the Miami-inspired Vice City. Alongside Lucia is an unnamed male character. The 90-second trailer for GTA VI showcases the signature elements of the crime-and-mayhem series, including fast cars, boats, beaches, bikinis, and bayous. Additionally, the trailer introduces a Twitter-like social media network, featuring videos of people partying on boats, a man retrieving an alligator from a pool, and a woman twerking on a moving car.

Leo Olebe, the global head of YouTube Gaming, expressed his anticipation for the game’s release, stating, “The Grand Theft Auto series has been a central figure in the entertainment industry for decades, and we anticipate the YouTube community and its creators to continue reaching new heights with Grand Theft Auto VI for years to come.” He further emphasized the cultural impact of the series and highlighted YouTube as the leading platform for gaming content and pop culture.

During the official trailer, the protagonists of GTA 6 were introduced, with a particular focus on Lucia, the first female lead in GTA 6. One notable detail is that Lucia is seen wearing prison clothing, suggesting that she has encountered legal issues in the past. Additionally, Lucia is frequently shown alongside an unnamed male character who seems to play a significant role in the upcoming game. While there have been unofficial references to him as Jason or James, his true identity remains unconfirmed. The pair appears to share a strong bond, reminiscent of the infamous duo Bonnie and Clyde, and they discuss the importance of trust as they engage in criminal activities together.
