Strong earthquake tremors were felt in Japan’s capital Tokyo. More than 30 people were injured in this incident. The blow was so strong that people came out of their homes out of fear and came on the streets. Due to the earthquake, a situation was created there. Due to the earthquake, a stampede-like situation was seen among the people. Local media reported that earthquake tremors were felt in Greater Tokyo. According to Tokyo’s news agency Kyodo, the condition of three people injured in the quake remains critical. Initially its intensity was estimated at 6.1 on the Richter scale, but later it was reduced to 5.9.
Due to the strong tremors, the buildings there shook. However, there is no news of loss of life and property at the moment. The epicenter of the quake is said to be 80 kilometers (48 mi) east of Tokyo in Chiba Prefecture. State television NHK showed a video from its office in which objects hanging from the ceiling could be seen moving rapidly.
The quake caused the Shinkansen Super Express train to be temporarily halted. Videos recorded in the busy urban districts of Shibuya and Shinjuku showed cars moving and running on roads as usual. Earlier, a strong earthquake struck northern Japan in the early hours of May 1, but there was no danger of a tsunami. There was no loss of life or property in this earthquake. The Japan Meteorological Department said the quake had a magnitude of 6.6 and its epicenter was 60 kilometers deep off the coast of Miyagi in northern Japan. In the same area in March 2011, a severe earthquake and tsunami killed about 20,000 people.
