Mason Greenwood was formally arrested by the Manchester Police yesterday. He is in custody for rape and assault charges. Manchester United announced the forward will not be returning until further notice. Nike followed by cutting ties and condemning the connections to abuse.
Another sponsor drops out as FIFA 22 is removing Mason Greenwood from the lineup. The update was released on Playstation, Xbox, and PC platforms. It will no longer feature Greenwood on the game’s offline modes. He also doesn’t appear in the United squad list on the game. This update is available for download starting February 1, 2022.
On Jan. 30, photos, videos, and voice memos were posted to the Instagram account of a woman accusing Greenwood of assault. The graphic images depicted bruises, cuts, and blood accompanied by text implicating the Manchester United player. There was also a voice memo of a verbal altercation allegedly involving Greenwood. After being referred to police, Greenwood was reportedly arrested on “suspicion of rape and sexual assault” and held in custody for questioning. Police have not revealed the name of the victim nor the person who is the subject of the investigation.
Yesterday, GMP announced Greenwood has been “further arrested on suspicion of sexual assault and threats to kill.”
