An unnamed Interior Ministry official said that in May some Saudi citizens were allowed to go abroad without the permission of the authorities for the first time since March 2020 but they had violated the travel rules. Officials said that if anyone now violates the travel rules, then legal action will be taken against him.
“Whoever indulges in this will be subject to legal liability and heavy penalties on return and a travel ban for three years,” the official said. Saudi Arabia has banned travel in several countries including Afghanistan, Argentina, Brazil, Egypt, Ethiopia, India, Indonesia, Lebanon, Pakistan, South Africa, Turkey, Vietnam and the United Arab Emirates.
