Talibani Decree- Instructing Female Anchors to Wear Hijab

The Afghan government of the Taliban issued several guidelines for the Afghan media In which strict instructions have been given to women television anchors to wear hijab. In a meeting with journalists, Maulvi Muhammad Khalid Hanafi, the acting minister in the Taliban government, has issued new broadcast orders to the Afghan media. According to Afghan media, Maulvi Hanafi instructed the gathered journalists to avoid negative propaganda against the government while cooperating with the Taliban government.

Instructions

Media will not be allowed to broadcast any film which is against the principles of Sharia (Islamic law) and Afghan values.
Those foreign and domestic films which spread foreign culture and traditions in Afghan society will not be allowed.
Humor and entertainment programs should not be meant to insult anyone.
Prohibition on broadcast of videos/films showing intimate parts of the male body.
It will be mandatory for women anchors/journalists to wear hijab in the media.
Prohibition on broadcast of plays insulting religious beliefs or human dignity.
Order to stop all programs related to Prophet Muhammad with immediate effect.

In its first press conference since taking power in August, the Taliban promised to respect women’s rights within the norms of Islamic law. But, they have imposed many restrictions on them. Apart from this, despite the promise of freedom of the press, there have been many cases of harassing and harassing many journalists just a few days back.
