Thailand : Air Pollution Increased Health Risk

Increasing pollution in Thailand has increased the concern of the people. An increase in the concentration of particulate matter measuring 2.5 microns (PM2.5) in Bangkok’s Nong Kham district and Khlong Sam Wa district to the east of the city was reported by the Pollution Center of the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA).

The level of PM 2.5 was recorded in both these districts, which is injurious to health. The center found 58 micrograms per cubic meter (μg/m) of air in Nong Kham district and 55 µg/m in Khlong Sam Wa district, while the average PM2.5 level across Bangkok was 37.7 µg/m.

Bangkok Governor Ashwin Kwanmuang said that pollution reaches its peak during the cold season from December to February. especially from December to February

Aswin said the BMA will collaborate with other agencies to implement measures to control sources of fine dust particles, including traffic fumes, construction sites and outdoor burning of waste or biomass.

Not only this, BMA has also launched a campaign to reduce pollution, and will also sprinkle water on the roads.
