UK Health Minister Resigns After Breaking Covid Rules

Britain’s Health Minister Matt Hancock has resigned in a letter to Prime Minister Boris Johnson following allegations of Covid protocol violations. In fact, recently a photo of him kissing and hugging an office co-worker was revealed and was accused of violating the Covid guidelines. There was resentment among his office staff and people about this.

In a video viral in British media, Matt Hancock is seen hugging and kissing a colleague. The trouble was that his action was captured in the CCTV camera installed there and reached the media in the form of a video clip.

According to media reports, this video is from May 6. According to the time recorded on the CCTV, it is around 3 pm in the corridor outside the White Hall office. Hancock took this action when physical contact in public places was banned in Britain due to Corona. Since it is May 6 and restrictions were in force then, questions were raised on the Health Minister too.

Hancock also apologized for the violation of the rules. Hancock said in a letter to Johnson, “We are indebted to the sacrifices people have made in this pandemic. In such a situation, it is our responsibility to be honest with them. I have disappointed them by violating the rules,” Johnson said. Said he was saddened to receive Hancock’s resignation and should be “extremely proud” of his service.

British Prime Minister Boris Johnson stood in support of Hancock after Hancock admitted to breaking the rules of social distancing Covid, but there was pressure to remove Hancock from office. Opposition parties accused the government of hypocrisy for violating the rules of lockdown. The parties said that many people were fined for violating similar rules.

At the same time, Hancock again apologized for the violation of the rules and said that he apologizes for putting family and loved ones in such a situation and he regrets disappointing people by violating the rules.

Following Hancock’s resignation, former UK finance minister Sajid Javid has been appointed health minister.
