Once again a volcano erupts in Spain. After 50 years, the most dangerous volcano on the continent of La-Palma has erupted again. Rapidly flowing lava destroyed many houses in the surrounding areas. In view of the danger after the volcano erupted, more than 10 thousand families were immediately shifted to other places. Many animals were also rescued. Earlier this volcano erupted in 1971 in the Kumbre Viej mountain range.
Intermittent earthquake tremors have been caused by the eruption of a volcano in the Spanish island of La Palma in the Atlantic Ocean. A tsunami alert has been issued from America to Canada. La Palma, with a population of 85,000, is one of eight volcanic islands in Spain’s Canary Islands off the west coast of Africa.
La Palma President Mariano Hernanandeh said no casualties were reported, but lava flows have raised concerns about populated areas along the coast. Itahija Dominguez, head of Spain’s National Geology Institute, said that it is difficult to tell how long the process of volcanic eruption will last, but last time it was for several three weeks.
Spanish Prime Minister Prado Sanchez confirmed that there is no threat to human life from the eruption of the volcano on the island of La Palma. Sanchez said, “We have to explain to the citizens of La Palma that their safety is guaranteed. We have been working for a week how to act in case of an explosion. Civil Guard, Police, Fire Brigade, Red Cross and Spanish All emergency response units of the military have been deployed on the island.”
La Palma has a surface area of over 700 km and a population of about 85,000 people. The region has experienced seven recorded eruptions since records began. The last two eruptions were in 1949 and 1971, the latter lasting 10 days.
