Youth for SDGs: Embracing a Sustainable Future

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand and UN Thailand collaborated to organize the “Youth for SDGs: Embracing a Sustainable Future” workshop on July 13-14, 2023, at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (MFA) in Thailand. The primary objective of the workshop was to highlight and promote the role of youth in driving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The workshop welcomed 133 students from 18 secondary schools in Bangkok and Pathum Thani, who actively participated in the event. The Deputy Permanent Secretary (DPS) Nathapol delivered the welcome remarks, setting the tone for the workshop and emphasizing the importance of youth engagement in sustainable development.

On July 14, the students presented their SDGs projects, which were planned for implementation in their respective schools. Their projects aimed to address various SDGs, tackling important issues related to sustainability and development. The students had the opportunity to receive valuable feedback from esteemed representatives of UN agencies present at the workshop.

Dr. Manop, representing the United Nations Resident Coordinator’s Office (UN RCO) in Thailand, and Ms. Phunchawaree, representing UN Women, provided feedback and guidance to the students on their projects. This interaction with UN agency representatives offered the students a unique opportunity to learn from experienced professionals and further refine their initiatives.

In addition to the project presentations and feedback session, the “Youth for SDGs” workshop aimed to foster networking and collaboration among the participating students, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Thailand, and United Nations Thailand. This emphasis on creating a network ensures continuous cooperation and joint efforts towards sustainable development.

Overall, the workshop provided a platform for young individuals to showcase their ideas and projects related to the SDGs, receive guidance from UN agency representatives, and establish connections for future collaboration in promoting sustainable development in Thailand.
