Thailand Ministry of Health reports 7,422 new COVID-19 cases and an additional 12 deaths since yesterday. The ministry also announced an additional 7,161 recovered patients.
The Test and Go program resumes today. Unlike the previous version where one RT PCR test is required on arrival, this time tourists need 2. The second one will take place on the fifth day. Previously, 24 hours stay in a certified hotel is required. The revised program advises that tourists need to wait for the second test result too. This is an added precaution since the scheme is now open to all countries.
Another revision added is the coverage of the insurance policies. Previously, the government shouldered expenses beyond the coverage. This time, tourists must have full coverage prior to being awarded a Thailand Pass.
Previous programs have seen the weaknesses of the old models for tourism. Among them are tourists escaping quarantine or not returning for the second test. Insurances in some instances also failed to cover all bills. Another issue was a few tourists able to enter the country without insurance coverage.
The revisions made were necessary to address the shortcomings of the previous version. This also ensures the domestic population they are properly protected.
