Thailand COVID-19 Cases March 28, 2022 Update

Thailand Ministry of Health reports 24,635 new COVID-19 cases and an additional 81 deaths since yesterday. The ministry also announced an additional 25,753 patients recovered from the COVID-19 virus.

Three months ahead of the national target of June to proclaim COVID-19 “endemic”, Surin plans to announce it on Friday. Provincial governor Suwongpong Kitipattharapiboon says that the people of the province have made it possible. Everyone cooperated with the Public Health Ministry’s Covid-free setting guidelines.

The provincial PR office of Surin says they are ready to shift the status of Covid-19 to an endemic. This will be starting on April 1. The office also urged people to get booster shots to build their immunity.

Surin reported 16,354 infections with 29 fatalities from Dec 24 to Saturday.

Meanwhile, the Centre for Covid-19 Situation Administration (CCSA) announced that 11 provinces reported more than 600 cases on average. This is an increase from the previous daily average.

From April to May, officials must keep caseloads down, while from the end of May to the end of June, officials must push daily infection numbers down to between 1,000 and 2,000 in each province.

Hospitalizations must also remain under 3% of the total confirmed cases. Also, at least 70% of the citizens must have at least 2 vaccine doses. Locals must continuously follow the general guidelines for COVID such as frequent washing of hands, wearing of masks, social distancing, and obtaining booster shots.

This is if they want to reach the endemic status by June 1. From March 12 to early next month, officials say the severity of infections is likely to reduce under a goal they have set.
