Bangkok, Thailand — The Vishwa Hindu Parishad Association Thailand proudly hosted the 18th annual Ganesha Mahotsav, the largest and most anticipated celebration of Lord Ganesha in the country. Held at the iconic Nimibutr Stadium, adjacent to MBK Mall in the heart of Bangkok, the event drew thousands of devotees from across Thailand and the Indian expatriate community, reaffirming its place as a cornerstone of cultural unity and spiritual joy.
At the center of the celebration stood a magnificent 10-foot idol of Lord Ganesha, lovingly crafted by skilled artisans from India. Their dedication and artistry brought forth an image that radiated joy and reverence, captivating hearts and invoking blessings.
This year’s Mahotsav was especially memorable, featuring performers of various local Associations representing many parts of Bharat (India) who showcased the rich tapestry of regional traditions. A historic highlight was the debut performance by Nadbrahma, a 15-member troupe from Pune, India, renowned for their electrifying Puneri Dhol. Their thunderous drums and vibrant energy ignited the stadium with fervor, leaving the audience enthralled and uplifted.
The spiritual crescendo of the event was the Visarjan procession, a moving spectacle that wound through Bangkok’s bustling commercial district and culminated at Sila Roek Park on Rama 3 Road. Hundreds of devotees joined the procession, many aboard a barge, to immerse the idol in a symbolic farewell—an emotional moment that echoed the collective prayer: “Ganapati Bappa Morya, Pudhchya Varshi Lavkar Ya!” (“Come back soon next year, Lord Ganesha!”)
Over the years, the Ganesha Mahotsav has inspired countless families and communities across Thailand to organize similar celebrations, fostering a deeper appreciation for one of Hinduism’s most beloved deities. The Vishwa Hindu Parishad Association Thailand remains committed to promoting cultural understanding and spiritual harmony through such inclusive events.
