Thailand’s business community gathered in Bangkok on June 12 for the JFCCT Prime Minister’s Address Luncheon 2026, an event that coincided with the first day of the Kingdom’s 15-day mourning period following the passing of Her Royal Highness Princess Bajrakitiyabha Narendiradebyavati.

Before delivering his keynote remarks, Prime Minister Mr. Anutin Charnvirakul joined Cabinet ministers in observing a moment of silence in tribute to the late Princess, whose passing on June 11 marked a significant moment of national reflection.
The luncheon, hosted by the Joint Foreign Chambers of Commerce in Thailand (JFCCT) at The Athenee Hotel, Bangkok, also celebrated the organization’s 50th anniversary and brought together approximately 400 members of the foreign business and investment community.
Thailand’s Economic Priorities
Addressing international investors and business leaders, Prime Minister Anutin presented the government’s economic direction, focusing on four key areas aimed at enhancing Thailand’s competitiveness and long-term growth.

The first pillar highlighted regulatory improvements designed to facilitate investment. Among the initiatives discussed was the Thailand FastPass scheme, which has already accelerated the approval process for 25 investment projects with a combined value exceeding 223 billion baht.
The Prime Minister also emphasized the importance of supporting emerging industries and advanced technologies. Sectors identified as strategic priorities included artificial intelligence, electric vehicles, and semiconductor-related industries.
A third area of focus was workforce development, reflecting the government’s efforts to equip Thailand’s labour force with the skills required for future economic opportunities.
The final pillar centered on expanding Thailand’s global engagement, including the country’s ambition to achieve membership in the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) before the end of the decade.
Business Activities Continue During Mourning Period
During his address, Prime Minister Anutin also provided reassurance to the business community, noting that commercial activities, events, and daily operations may continue as normal during the national mourning period.
The message was welcomed by business leaders seeking clarity on the impact of the mourning period on economic activity and scheduled events.
A Day of Reflection and Forward Momentum
The event reflected both remembrance and continuity, as Thailand balanced a period of national mourning with its commitment to economic development and international engagement.

As foreign investors and business representatives gathered to discuss opportunities and partnerships, the Prime Minister reaffirmed Thailand’s intention to remain an attractive destination for investment while continuing to strengthen its position in the global economy.
