Hindu Samaj Thailand Marks 100 Years of Legacy with Grand Centenary Celebration

Bangkok, Thailand – The Hindu Samaj Thailand, one of the oldest Indo-Thai associations, celebrated its centenary with a grand event on October 2, 2025. The highlight of the day was the inauguration of the newly built main entrance gate by H.E. Nagesh Singh, Ambassador of India to Thailand, alongside the Director General of Religious Affairs, Department of Religious Affairs, and other dignitaries.

Founded in 1925, Hindu Samaj Thailand has played a vital role in fostering community spirit, preserving cultural traditions, and strengthening India–Thailand ties for over a century. The association has long been recognized for its charitable initiatives and for serving as a spiritual and cultural anchor for the Indian diaspora in Thailand.

During his address, Ambassador Singh congratulated the members of Hindu Samaj for reaching this historic milestone. He encouraged the community to continue being a “cultural bridge between India and Thailand”, while spreading harmony, compassion, and respect through their religious and social activities.

The centenary celebrations not only honored the association’s rich past but also looked ahead to its future role in promoting intercultural understanding and unity.

A Century of Legacy

Hindu Samaj Thailand, also known as Dev Mandir, was founded in 1925 on the auspicious day of Vijaydashmi. Originally located on Langwang Burapha Road, it moved to its current premises in 1969, where the temple became a central place of worship and community gatherings. The temple houses stunning marble idols of deities including Vishnu, Lakshmi, Shiva, Ganesh, Durga, and Brahma, attracting both Indian-origin Hindus and Thai devotees.

Over the years, the association has become known for celebrating major Hindu festivals such as Diwali, Ganesh Chaturthi, and Maha Shivaratri, as well as for introducing cultural programs like the Ganga Aarti on the banks of the Chao Phraya River. It has also been active in education and social service, running schools and supporting charitable causes across Thailand.

Beyond being a religious institution, Hindu Samaj serves as a living testament to the deep cultural connections between India and Thailand. It continues to embody harmony, compassion, and respect, while preserving traditions that enrich the multicultural fabric of Thai society.
