Thailand Opens Media Centers Ahead of the SEA Games 2025

Bangkok, Thailand — Thailand has officially opened the International Broadcast Center (IBC) and Main Press Center (MPC) as the country prepares to host the 33rd Southeast Asian Games (SEA Games) from 9–20 December 2025. The announcement was made during a press conference held at the Government Public Relations Department (PRD) Media Center on Vibhavadi Rangsit Road.

World-Class Broadcast Hub for Regional Media

The newly opened IBC, located at the PRD Media Center, is a modern three-story facility designed to support media teams from all 11 participating countries. The center features two full-size studios, a master control room, meeting rooms, a press briefing hall, dining areas, and a dedicated social media command center. A basement with parking for 300 vehicles helps accommodate the expected surge of media personnel.

These facilities will allow broadcasters to access real-time competition data and deliver the most comprehensive SEA Games coverage in the event’s history.

Main Press Centers in Bangkok and Chon Buri

The MPC in Bangkok is situated on the first floor of the PRD Media Center, while a second MPC operates from the NT Service Center 2 in Chon Buri.

To support on-ground coverage, 19 Sub Press Centers (SPCs) have also been established at key sports venues, including Rajamangala National Stadium, Chulalongkorn University (Sala Phra Kiao), Fashion Island, the Lawn Tennis Association of Thailand in Nonthaburi, and sports facilities in Nakhon Pathom, Samut Prakan, and Chon Buri.

Most Widely Broadcast SEA Games Ever

PRD Director-General Sudruetai Lertkasem highlighted that the 33rd SEA Games will be the most extensively televised edition to date. The National Broadcasting Services of Thailand (NBT) will serve as the host broadcaster, working alongside T Sports 7 and multiple media partners to cover more than 30 sports.

Sporting federations will also be allowed to broadcast their events on their own non-commercial platforms.

Thailand Confirms Readiness Despite Relocations

SAT Governor Kongsak Yodmanee reaffirmed Thailand’s readiness as the country hosts the regional tournament for the first time in more than 18 years. The Games will feature 50 sports, three demonstration sports, one value-added sport, and a total of 574 gold medals.

Due to severe flooding in southern Thailand, events originally set for Songkhla have been relocated to Bangkok and nearby provinces. Ten sports are affected, but organizers assure that all competitions will maintain international standards.

Additional Seats Announced for Opening Ceremony

To accommodate growing public interest, the SEA Games 2025 organizing committee has released 10,000 additional seats in Zone W for the opening ceremony at Rajamangala National Stadium.

Registration opens 3 December 2025 at 2:00 p.m.

An extra 1,000 on-site seats will also be offered at Football Stadium 1 (Grandstand Area), with priority for senior citizens and persons with disabilities.
