Bangkok, Thailand — Bangkok is glowing with celebration as the Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2025 transforms the city into a spectacular festival of light, faith, and friendship. Organized by the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) in collaboration with the Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) and public–private partners, this year’s festival celebrates the theme “Light Unites Us,” symbolizing the deep bond between Thailand and India.
The festival officially opened on October 19 at Phahurat Road, presided over by Mr. Attakorn Sirilattayakorn, Minister of Tourism and Sports, with Mr. Sanon Wangsrangboon, Deputy Governor of Bangkok, in attendance. The opening ceremony was joined by dignitaries and representatives from both countries, marking a momentous celebration of shared heritage and friendship.
Two Main Zones of Celebration
The 2025 festival features two main locations — Phahurat Road and Khlong Ong Ang, both areas rich in Thai–Indian cultural heritage spanning over 200 years.
-
Phahurat Road, Bangkok’s “Little India,” dazzles with artful light installations, cultural performances, and multimedia displays from October 16–31, between 4:00 PM and 10:00 PM. From October 18–20, the stage comes alive with four daily cultural shows that blend Thai and Indian performing arts — from traditional lantern and lotus dances to cross-cultural fusions such as Bharatanatyam and Bihu.
Visitors can also enjoy modern performances like India Contemporary Dance and Bollywood Dance, followed by mini concerts from popular Thai artists including Ja Nongpanee, Musketeers, Prang Prangthip, Mirrr, Meantra Intira, and ZANI, creating nights filled with music, color, and joy.
-
Khlong Ong Ang, a scenic canal nearby, becomes another radiant attraction, decorated with hundreds of glowing Diyas, colorful Rangoli art, and reflections of light dancing on the water. From October 16–20, visitors can enjoy mini cultural shows on small stages along the canal, adding more charm to the city’s festive nights.
A Celebration of Culture and Unity
The Amazing Thailand Grand Diwali Festival 2025 not only highlights Bangkok’s multicultural spirit but also celebrates the deep-rooted friendship between Thailand and India. The festival showcases how light — the central symbol of Diwali — transcends borders, cultures, and beliefs, spreading hope and harmony.
The opening ceremony was attended by prominent figures including Mr. Wiput Sriwawurai, President of the Bangkok Metropolitan Council; Ms. Paulomi Tripathi, Deputy Chief of Mission at the Indian Embassy in Thailand; Ms. Thapanee Kiatphaibool, Governor of TAT; and high-ranking officers from the Tourist Police Bureau and Metropolitan Police Division 6, along with officials from Phra Nakhon and Samphanthawong District Offices.
