Shri Hanuman Mahotsav Concludes in Bangkok with Grand Havan Ceremony; Ambassador of India to Thailand Graces the Occasion as Chief Guest
The Shri Hanuman Mahotsav, a four day spiritual celebration organized by the Chinmaya Study Group, Bangkok, concluded with a deeply devotional and uplifting Hanuman Chalisa Havan at the India–Thai Chamber of Commerce (ITCC), Bangkok.
His Excellency Shri Puneet Agarwal, Ambassador of India to Thailand, graced the concluding ceremony as the Chief Guest, adding dignity and warmth to the event. His presence was received with great reverence by the devotees and the organizing committee.
The Mahotsav, held from 10–13 September 2026, brought together members of the Indian diaspora, Thai devotees, and spiritual seekers for a series of discourses by Swami Avyayananda ji, Spiritual Guide of Chinmaya Mission, Singapore. Over the first three days, Swamiji delivered profound talks on “Hanuman Sankat Mochan”, illuminating the virtues of devotion, courage, humility, and unwavering service embodied by Lord Hanuman. Never before has the Sankat Mochan Hanuman Ashtak been explained, with microscopic vision.
The final day featured a powerful Hanuman Chalisa Havan, where devotees collectively chanted the sacred verses in an atmosphere filled with devotion and serenity. The havan symbolized prayers for peace, harmony, and collective well being. This was the first time that such an event was held in Bangkok.
Speaking at the event, Ambassador H. E. Mr. Puneet Agarwal commended the Chinmaya Study Group for its efforts in promoting spiritual learning and cultural harmony in Thailand. He highlighted the importance of such gatherings in strengthening India–Thailand cultural ties and preserving timeless traditions among the diaspora. His Excellency observed that “Such events deepen the civilisational bonds between India and Thailand. Our two nations share centuries of cultural heritage—from the Ramayana to the Ramakien, from temple traditions to performing arts. When communities come together in Bangkok to celebrate Hanuman ji, it strengthens people to people ties, fosters cultural understanding, and reinforces the warmth that defines India–Thailand relations. These celebrations become living bridges of friendship, shared values, and mutual respect.”
Mrs. Devki Hemlani, chief co-ordinator of the event was overjoyed with the response from the gathered devotees, which included Thais as well. She promised more such events. The Chinmaya Study Group, Bangkok, reaffirmed its commitment to continuing its spiritual and cultural initiatives, bringing together communities through the teachings of Vedanta and the values of service and devotion.
Mr. Raju B. Manwani, representing the organizing committee, expressed heartfelt gratitude to Swami His Excellency, Swami Avyayananda ji, ITCC, and all volunteers and participants whose support made the Mahotsav a memorable success.
