The world’s floating bookstore is back — and it’s ready to make waves in Bangkok once again.
Book lovers, this one’s for you. The MV Doulos Hope, the world’s floating bookstore, has docked once again at Bangkok Port in Khlong Toei and is open to everyone from now until November 30, 2025.
Fresh from Sihanoukville, Cambodia, the ship made a stop in Sattahip, Chonburi, before making its way to Bangkok. After wrapping up its Thai stop, it will continue its journey to Klang, Selangor, Malaysia — spreading its core mission of knowledge, help, and hope across Asia’s waters.
A bookshop on the sea? Yes, please!

Aboard the Doulos Hope, you’ll find a charming international book fair featuring a wide selection of English-language titles — from educational reads and cultural pieces to inspiring family-friendly books. The ship also hosts over 160 volunteers from 37 countries, making it a truly global cultural exchange on deck.

Bangkok Governor Chadchart Sittipunt, who presided over the opening ceremony, welcomed the ship’s return, saying,
“Our vision is to make Bangkok a livable city for everyone. What Doulos Hope does — sharing knowledge, help, and hope — aligns beautifully with that vision. If more of us embraced such ideals, the world would certainly be a better place.”
He also added a heartfelt note to the crew:
“Please think of Bangkok as another home — a place you’re always welcome to return to.”

Joining the event were Captain Jonathan Birdsall, Mr. Nadeen Sebastian (Managing Director of MV Doulos Hope), representatives from the Port Authority of Thailand, and the Department of International Affairs.
