Assam, India – Mrs. Somsong Sachaphimukh, a senior Thai tourism executive and Vice President of the Tourism Council of Thailand (TCT), is currently in Guwahati, Assam, attending the India–ASEAN Tourism Professionals Exchange Program 2025, being held from 12–17 December 2025.
Mrs. Sachaphimukh has been officially invited by the Government of India to take part in the regional tourism exchange, which brings together tourism professionals and industry leaders from India and all ten ASEAN member states. The programme aims to strengthen cross-border tourism cooperation, promote business-to-business engagement, and encourage sustainable tourism development across South and Southeast Asia.
According to Mrs. Sachaphimukh, she is participating in the programme as a representative of Thailand’s private tourism sector, travelling alongside three officials from Thailand’s Tourism Department. During the week-long exchange, delegates will take part in networking sessions, meetings, and curated site visits showcasing key destinations in India’s northeast.
A prominent figure in Thailand’s tourism industry, Mrs. Sachaphimukh has played an active role in promoting Thailand–India tourism collaboration, particularly in encouraging Indian travellers to visit Thailand. Her presence at the exchange programme highlights the importance of private-sector leadership in advancing regional tourism partnerships.
The India–ASEAN Tourism Professionals Exchange Program 2025 forms part of broader efforts to deepen ASEAN–India tourism ties and strengthen people-to-people connections through travel and cultural exchange. Participation from both public and private sector representatives underscores tourism’s growing role as a strategic pillar of regional cooperation.
