Bihar–Thailand Economic & Industry Dialogue Strengthens Business Collaboration in Bangkok

Bangkok, Thailand – March 7, 2026: A high-level business networking event titled “Building Bridges: Bihar–Thailand Economic & Industry Dialogue” was successfully held on Saturday, March 7, 2026, at the ITCC Hall of Excellence, Sathorn Soi 1, Bangkok. The exclusive evening gathering brought together government representatives, industry leaders, and members of the business community from India and Thailand to explore new avenues for economic cooperation.

Organized by the Department of Industries, Government of Bihar, in association with the India-Thai Chamber of Commerce, the dialogue also functioned as an Investment Roadshow in Bangkok ahead of the upcoming Bihar Business Connect 2026, a major investment summit scheduled to take place in November 2026.

Strengthening India–Thailand Economic Engagement

The evening began with a welcome address by Mr. Sushil Kumar Dhanuka, President of the India-Thai Chamber of Commerce, who welcomed representatives from the Thai Government, industry members, the visiting Bihar delegation, and the Bihar Foundation Bangkok Chapter. The gathering highlighted the growing importance of collaboration between Bihar and Thailand across sectors such as manufacturing, infrastructure, trade, and tourism.

Industry insights were shared by Mr. R. D. Khimesra, Vice Chairman and Advisor of the Chemical Industry Club under the Federation of Thai Industries. He noted the importance of attracting younger international travelers to Bihar while also encouraging broader economic engagement beyond tourism, including trade and industrial partnerships.

Further insights into Thailand’s industrial landscape were presented by Mr. Papichat Tangcaravakoon, Secretary General of the Chemical Industry Club. His presentation highlighted the strength of Thailand’s chemical and petrochemical sector—one of Southeast Asia’s key export industries that supports major sectors including automotive, electronics, biofuels, and healthcare.

Showcasing Bihar’s Investment Potential

A video message from Dr. Dilip Kumar Jaiswal, Hon’ble Industries Minister of Bihar, emphasized the importance of strengthening Indo–Thai economic ties. He highlighted opportunities for collaboration in tourism, manufacturing, and agro-processing, and invited Thai investors to explore Bihar as an emerging destination for business and industry.

During the event, Shri Mukul Kumar Gupta, Director of the Department of Industries, Government of Bihar, presented the state’s investment potential and outlined the vision behind Bihar Business Connect 2026. His presentation highlighted Bihar’s rapidly improving infrastructure, strong connectivity through roads, railways, airways, and waterways, and access to a consumer market of more than 400 million people across the region.

He also emphasized Bihar’s demographic advantage, noting its young workforce and increasing participation of women in the labour force. The state’s growing educational ecosystem—including national institutions, ITIs, and engineering colleges—produces nearly 180,000 technical graduates annually, providing a strong talent pool for industry and innovation.

Policies Supporting Industrial Growth

The presentation also introduced several key policy initiatives designed to support investors and entrepreneurs. These include the Bihar Industrial Investment Promotion Policy (BIIPP) 2025, the state’s Startup Policy, and a Single Window Clearance system that enables approvals within approximately 12 days.

Another highlight was the development of a 1,670-acre Integrated Manufacturing City, which represents an estimated investment potential of ₹16,525 crore and aims to attract global manufacturing and industrial partners.

Expanding Opportunities for Collaboration

Alongside discussions on manufacturing and infrastructure, the dialogue also highlighted opportunities to strengthen tourism cooperation—particularly in spiritual and cultural tourism linking Bihar’s historic sites with travelers from Thailand and Southeast Asia.

The event concluded with a networking session, allowing business leaders and policymakers from both countries to exchange ideas and explore potential partnerships. Participants were also invited to attend Bihar Business Connect 2026, which is expected to bring together global investors and industry leaders later this year.

The Bihar–Thailand Economic & Industry Dialogue reflected the growing momentum in India–Thailand economic relations and underscored Bihar’s ambition to position itself as a dynamic hub for trade, industry, and international collaboration.
