Bangkok is preparing for a vibrant cultural celebration from April 23 to 27, 2025, in honor of the 243rd Anniversary of the Rattanakosin Era. This major event invites everyone to explore the heart of Thai heritage across three historic venues.
What is the Rattanakosin Era?
The Rattanakosin Era began in 1782, when King Rama I founded the Chakri Dynasty and declared Bangkok the new capital of Thailand. This era marked the start of modern Thai history, with the construction of iconic sites like the Grand Palace and Wat Phra Kaew. The Rattanakosin period continues today under King Rama X, making it the longest ongoing era in the country’s history.
