Delhi: DMRC Starts E-Feeder Buses

Delhi Metro Rail Corporation (DMRC) is starting to run feeder electric buses on trial basis from today. This pilot project has been started to provide better connectivity to the passengers of Delhi Metro. The conductor will not be present in these feeder buses. Along with this, many modern facilities including CCTV, panic button will also be present. At present, these buses are being run on two routes of the capital as a trial.

Issuing a statement regarding this, DMRC said, “Delhi Metro is going to start running electric feeder buses for the first time in Rajdhani from today. Under the trial run, 25 low floor e-buses will be run on two different routes. ” Also, DMRC has said that it will bring 100 such feeder electric buses in different phases by the end of October. So that better connectivity can be provided to the metro commuters.

According to DMRC, from today this feeder bus service will run on two routes. One of these routes is from Shastri Park Metro Station to Gokulpuri Metro Station via Khajuri Chowk. This route of 10.3 km has been marked as MC-721. Apart from this, the second route is from Shastri Park Metro Station to Mother Dairy. This 7.7 km long route has been marked as ML-05.

There will be no conductor in these feeder electric buses and there will be a cashless system for buying tickets. Passengers will be able to buy these tickets through Metro Smart Card in them. Talking about ticket prices, passengers will have to pay Rs 10 for 0 to 4 km, Rs 15 for 4 to 8 km, Rs 20 for 8 to 12 km and Rs 25 for more than 12 km.

These buses are fully air conditioned. They also have GPS, CCTV cameras and panic buttons in case of emergency. Along with this, audio visual passenger information system has also been installed in them. With which, like the metro, passengers will get information about the station coming in these buses too. Charging stations of 2.5 MW have also been built to charge these electric buses. Along with this, automatic wash plants have also been made for cleaning and washing of buses.
