The danger of the third wave of Corona still remains. Amidst this apprehension, after Maharashtra, now Punjab has announced new guidelines for people coming from other states. Now it is mandatory to show full vaccination certificate or negative corona report for entry in Punjab from Monday. Only then will the entry be allowed in the state. Those coming from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu will be strictly monitored.
The state government said in a statement, “Punjab Chief Minister Captain Amarinder Singh has ordered mandatory full COVID vaccination or negative RTPCR reports for all people entering the state from Monday, especially those coming from Himachal Pradesh and Jammu. Will be closely monitored, as there are more corona positive cases here.”
Amidst the news of increasing cases of corona in schools, the Chief Minister has also directed that only teaching and non-teaching staff who have been vaccinated or recently recovered from corona will be allowed to go to schools and colleges. At the same time, the option of online education will also be available for all the children.
Along with this, he ordered to give priority to teachers and non-teaching staff for vaccination. Along with this, he decided to organize special vaccination camps to ensure that all of them are given the first dose by the end of this month and priority should be given in the second dose as well. Health Minister Balbir Singh Sidhu suggested reducing the gap between the two doses of the vaccine, so that teachers and other school staff could be given the second dose at the earliest.
With the arrival of 89 new cases of corona virus in Punjab on Friday, the number of infected people increased to 5 lakh 99 thousand 846. The death toll remains at 16,334 as no case of death from Covid has been reported in the state on Friday. There were 19 cases in Amritsar, 10 in Mohali. So far 5 lakh 82 thousand 944 people have been cured of the infection. Presently 568 patients are undergoing treatment.
With the arrival of seven new cases of Covid in Chandigarh, the number of infected people increased to 62,024. Among the new cases, there are also eight earlier cases. So far 811 people have died due to infection in Chandigarh. At present, 42 patients are undergoing treatment and so far 61,171 people have defeated the infection.
